The Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra will give a spectacular concert at the Kölcsey Centre in Debrecen on the 28th of October at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year 2024, in honour of the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic.
World-renowned pianist Gökhan Aybulus will be the soloist and the orchestra will be conducted by their permanent conductor Cemi’i Can Deliorman.
The Presidential Symphony Orchestra, one of the world’s oldest artistic institutions, is one of the rare ensembles to have maintained uninterrupted artistic continuity over its nearly 200-year existence.
The show, specially created for the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year, celebrates the shared spiritual and cultural values of the two nations, opening with Turkish and Hungarian hymns.
The rest of the programme will feature excerpts from Ferit Tüzün’s ballet suite “Çayda Çıra”, inspired by the folk dances of the Elazığ region. This will be followed by a performance of Ferenc Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat major. The famous Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály’s “Dances of Galánta” and Ulvi Cemal Erkin’s “Köçekçe”, inspired by the dance music of the Ottoman era, will be performed in symphonic orchestration.
