Made in Debrecen Festival 2025

Debrecen is back in the spotlight! For the fourth time, the Made in Debrecen festival will be held in the heart of the city. As we have become accustomed to, the one-day music festival is always characterised by its own unique characters representing different musical genres. For the first time in 2022, the city centre hosted the Made in Debrecen festival, modelled on the Pécs festival, which will entertain visitors with free concerts for a whole day. A total of nine city-centre bars will host locally-connected performers and bands on the 29th of March. Each of the venues will be accompanied by a supporting character,  linked to the genre of the venue, and the organisers have already published the "mascots". The nine characters reveal the attributes of each genre, from the most popular styles to alternative, mainstream and underground, acoustic and electronic. Spring Greeting Bike Tour to Látókép and Józsa

The tour will be led by Tamás Attila Vass, staff member of the Local History Department of the Central Méliusz Library. Meeting place: Debrecen, Füredi Road - Böszörményi Road corner, at the fast food stand. Stops on the tour include the Látóképi Tavern, the Rózsás Tavern and the cycle path of the new BMW Boulevard. FutureVision Expo and Job Fair at the Kölcsey Centre

Expanding on the success of last year's event, this year's FutureVision Expo and Job Fair (JövőKép Expo in Hungarian) will be complemented by a job fair for job seekers and those interested in career opportunities in the SME sector. Visitors are awaited if they want to explore the training and career opportunities in small and medium-sized enterprises in Debrecen and its region, meet the companies, build their professional contacts or inquire about open positions. Exhibitors are awaited if they would like to take advantage of the free stand and show their company at a job fair with thousands of visitors. Free Astronomy Presentation in Front of the Main building of University of Debrecen

Interested parties are welcome to a free astronomy programme on the 5th of April, where kids and adults can both discover the wonders of the night sky and take a look through telescopes and see for themselves: mountains of the crescent moon in the sweeping light, planet Mars, wandering in the open cluster of M44 in the constellation of Cancer, Jupiter's stunning disk and moons, and many distant deep-sky objects. Don't miss this extraordinary experience! Useful Information: This programme is only available on clear days, so keep an eye on the Facebook event's site or the latest information. Photos and videos will be taken during the event and shared on organisers’ Facebook page. 100-member Gypsy Orchestra Jubilee Gala Concert

The 100 Member Gypsy Orchestra is the largest and most famous gypsy orchestra in the world and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025. In 2000 the band won the Hungarian Heritage Award and in the same year was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. Yamato – Drummers of Japan

The world famous Japanese drummers group Yamato will visit Hungary again after 2 years! Their new show 'Hito no Chikara - The Power of Human Strength' is an exciting, energetic interpretation of the centuries-old Taiko-drum tradition.  The production features more than 40 drums, bronze cymbals, chants and bamboo flutes; anyone who has seen them will know the incomparable experience. The name Yamato stands for virtuosity, power and incredibly precise choreography. Borsos József 150 Exhibition Opens

Within the commemorative year on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of József Borsos, the former chief architect of the “cívis” city, the Borsos József 150 exhibition will open on the 9th of April. The Borsos-villa Community House of the DEMKI also joined the series of events for the significant anniversary, as the villa he designed was also the home of József Borsos. He jokingly called the two-story building, which once stood out among the single-story houses on the suburban street, an “old-garden cottage”.  The curator, director and opening person of the exhibition presenting Borsos' architectural legacy is architect Zoltán Rácz, the most knowledgeable expert on Borsos's oeuvre. Several buildings in Debrecen commemorate József Borsos, whose life's work the city pays tribute to with a series of programmes throughout the year. 2nd Debrecen Fair

Due to the great interest the 2nd Debrecen Fair Debreceni “Sokadalom”) will be held again on the 12th and the 13th of April. This event fuses the true traditional fair atmosphere with the modernity of today. In the spirit of preserving tradition, visitors can also find treasures that meet the needs of today's world and where young and old alike can find entertainment. The aim is to organise a fair that pays tribute to Debrecen's past as a market town and showcases the best of the town's fair culture, while representing a forward-looking approach that shows how past, present and future can be brought together in a single entity. 8th Batthyany Street Fair and Children’s Flea Market

The Debrecen Creative Community brings back the beloved street fair to Batthyány Street, where an International Rhyme Fest will be held at the same time, at the same location as well on the 12th of April between 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m. On this day, Debrecen's first pedestrian street will be bustling with the fair and the children's flea market. Useful information: In order to sell your goods, filling out the application form is mandatory.  If your children would like to participate, registration should be submitted at the following link: https://forms.gle/iGQ7kYksx2hK1fcN9 Everyone as a customer is welcome, of course without registration. Photographs will be taken during the programme, to which all interested parties consent by participating in the programme. Organisers reserve the right to change the programme. Amusement Park Trial Run

The Amusement Park will open its doors with a trial run, and to make the experience even more memorable, welcoming guests with a carnival atmosphere even before the opening, on the 12th of April.
