After visits to several other cities, the Alexandra Publishing Group is arriving with books with beauty defects and books on a discount price.  In the course of the publishing work, a lot of books pass through hands; some specimens inevitably suffer minor or major defects. However, the perfect exterior is not everything, the inner values are the most important, especially in the case of books.   At the book fair, not only defective books but books in perfect shape can be bought at discount prices. More than 15000 different  books can be bought from 100 HUF. The book fair is open from 10:00 a.m. until the stock lasts,  but the latest until  5:00 p.m. Paying by card on the spot is possible. Exhibition of Graphic Artist, István Subicz Opens at Új Galéria

This time graphic artist István Subicz will show his wooden works to the Debrecen audience via exhibition titled "The trees (also) tell a story". The artist, who is a rigorous creator and takes art seriously, believes that the nature and destiny of pictures is that they end up on a wall somewhere, and that people and viewers come into contact with them in some way. Photographer András Máthé will open the exhibition with  flute player Hanna Jantyik on Saturday the 13th of July at 5:00 p.m. at Új Galéria. Zoo Camp Now Available for Expat Children in English

With the summer holidays fast approaching, Debrecen Zoo is happy to announce their first ever Expat Zoo Camp in English  between the 15th and 19th of July, offering local expat children Debrecen’s richest and most unique day camp experiences and activities on the wild side Monday through Friday. With professional zoo educators as their guides, Zoo Campers will peek behind the scenes at the Park for their very own up-close encounters and lifelong memories with various exotic animals through experiential education activities.  In addition to a first-hand introduction to the behaviour and nutrition of wildlife from all around the globe, they will learn all about responsible pet ownership and what it means to take care of a rich zoological and botanical collection.  The five-day sessions also include three meals a day and a great diversity of team building and arts-and-crafts.  As a finale to the camp week, the Amusement Park's toy machines will provide children with activities of a lot of fun. Hungarian Alter-Pop Concert at Water Tower Garden

Band Andalgó, combining alt-pop with acoustic elements, interprets the best-known Hungarian alt-pop songs in an acoustic version on the 19th of July from 8.30 p.m at Water Tower Garden (Víztoronykert). The members of the formation are Míra Léhárt (vocals), Patrik Polgár (guitar) and Marcell Magyar (percussion.  Míra and Patrik's duo had been performing regularly for two years when they asked Marcell, who was born in Debrecen, to add colour to their playing and form a band. Hungarikum Gala Concert

On Saturday, the 20th of July, the audience will hear excerpts from the works of the greatest Hungarian composers in a nearly 80-minute concert. On 20 July, Coopera's highly successful Hungarikum Gala Concert, which has become a tradition in Debrecen, will return to the Nagyerdei Open-Air Stage. The nearly 80-minute concert featuring more than 100 stage performers, will evoke cultural values through our musical traditions and promises to be an unforgettable summer experience. (Hungarikum is a generic term that denotes a value worthy of distinction, worthy of highlighting, which, with its characteristic features, uniqueness, distinctiveness and quality, is the peak achievement of Hungarians.) The concert will feature excerpts from the works of our greatest Hungarian composers evoking the best-known melodies of Béla Bartók, Ferenc Erkel, Zoltán Kodály and Imre Kálmán, among others. Memorial Exhibition Opens in MODEM on the 21st of July

Mária Berhidi's retrospective exhibition, opening on the second floor of MODEM, aims to reveal the full extent of the late artist's somewhat hidden, sensitive and sensual conceptual-minimalist sculptural oeuvre, her personal and professional collaboration with fellow artists, and her influential work as an art organiser. Berhidi's art evolved from body torsos to quasi-geometric compositions using stone from quarries' waste.  She used materials like wood, textiles, metal, and found objects in installations. From 2007 for 15 years she was the artist curator of the Óbuda Society Gallery, promoting the youngest artists and presenting rarely published works. This influenced MODEM, which aimed to promote installation art and contemporary sculpture with individual voices. The exhibition will be opened by art historian Katalin Aknai on the 20th of July, at 4:00 p.m., with a welcome speech by Executive Director of MODEM, Kata Vizi,  followed by a curatorial guided tour with Szabolcs Süli-Zakar and Gábor Andrási.
