Batthyany Street Fair and Children’s Flea Market

The Creative Community of Debrecen will soon be bringing a new bustle to Batthyány Street, where the 9th Batthyány Flea Market and Children's Flea Market will be held on Saturday 10 May between 9.00 a.m.  and 12.00 p.m.  To register, please fill in the application form on the programme's Facebook page. The organisers have also set another day for the fair, which will be held on 17 May in case of bad weather. Special Concert at the Debrecen Jewish Festival

On May 10th, starting at 9 p.m., the Debrecen audience will be treated to a truly special musical experience: the iconic formation of Hungarian electronic music, Anima Sound System, will perform as part of the Jewish Cultural Days, with an unusual guest, Dódi Kárpáti, the charismatic frontman of Quimby. Anima Sound System has been shaping the Hungarian music scene for over thirty years; in their unique soundscape, they boldly combine electronics, world music, Hungarian folk music elements and Eastern European Jewish musical motifs.  The speciality of their current performance is not only the usual powerful performance of singer Lili Széchenyi and the band, but also the presence of Dódi Kárpáti, known from Quimby, who brings new colour and depth to the atmosphere of the evening. The concert will feature songs from the first Anima album, "Shalom", which is 30 years old this year, as well as from the latest album, "DERRKOVITS", including a song about Simone Weil, making this evening both danceable and thought-provoking. DKV Open House

DKV központ 3 Salétrom utca, Debrecen, Hjadú-Bihar, Hungary

On the open day, in addition to the retro vehicles and nostalgia services, visitors can learn the secrets of the vehicle assembly hall and take a historical tour led by Kálmán Gara. Visitors to the event can also visit the stands of Aquaticum Debrecen, the Hajdú-Bihar County Headquarters, the Bicycle Museum and MVK Zrt. The Art Week Series of Events is Held Again in Debrecen

Between 15 and 18 May, the exhibition and alternative spaces of the city centre will offer guided tours, workshops and studio visits, and a flash mob will be added to the programme, alongside musical and literary experiences. All this will take place at the same time as and in line with the 34th Debrecen Spring Fair. The programme will be organised in 14 locations, in cooperation with 16 exhibition venues, associations, art schools and individuals in Debrecen. “Fine art is a very important part of the city's cultural life, and it deserves to have a strong focus, as there is a large audience, many artists and many art lovers and art supporters in the city,”  as Deputy Mayor of Debrecen István Puskás, summarised. Exhibition of the Works of Árpád Bényi Opens

Partium House Piac Street 81, Debrecen, Hungary

As one of the programmes of the II Debrecen Art Week, Árpád Bényi's exhibition entitled “I was born in Transylvania” will open, featuring paintings. The exhibition will be opened by literary historian Ferenc Vitéz, who has a personal relationship with the artist, with classical guitaristm Imre Kocsi performing at the event. 30th Great Debrecen Record Fair

Debrecen’s First Elegant Motorcycle Parade

Debrecen will host its first Debrecen Gentleman's Ride on 18 May. The stylish, elegant motorcycle parade aims to raise awareness of the importance of men's health. Inspired by the world-renowned Distinguished Gentleman's Ride event, the event is not only a motorcycle event, but also a social cause: participants will ride their bikes in elegant, classic attire to promote awareness of men's mental and physical health. Men's health issues, particularly prostate cancer and mental health challenges, are often taboo subjects. The Gentleman's Ride aims to raise awareness of these issues in a stylish and positive way, while creating a community experience for participants and spectators. On Sunday morning at 10.00 a.m., all participants are expected to arrive in front of the Debrecen Motodrom (50 Szoboszlói Road).The organisers also ask that participants wear elegant, classic attire.
