Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra and Kodály Choir with concert ‘Standing Together’ (Együttállás) awaits the audience on the 20th of February at 7.00 p.m. Program: Gershwin: Cuban Overture / R. Strauss: Till Eulenspiegel's Merry Pranks op. 28. / G. T. Holst: Planets, op. 32 Contributors: Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra / Kodály Choir Debrecen (Director: Zoltán Kocsis-Holper) George Gershwin's Overture to Cuba is the result of a two-week holiday the composer spent in Havana in February 1932 and the hugely successful premiere of the work took place on the 16th of  August, 1932 at Lewisohn Stadium in New York. Richard Strauss's magnificent symphonic poem The Merry Pranks of Till Eulenspiegel was composed in 1894-95. In this 'rags-to-riches tale', the composer depicts the adventures and frolics of a dashing folk hero, Till Eulenspiegel, in almost all the expressive possibilities of late Romanticism. Gustav Holst's 'cosmic' piece, The Planets, is little known in our country, although it is one of the most popular orchestral works in the composer's native Britain. In addition to Grieg, Ravel and Richard Strauss, Holst's style was influenced by Hindu philosophy and English folk music. “Pronoun wars” in the American Corner

The next event of the Institute of English and American Studies, The „Pronoun Wars” from a Linguistic Perspective will take place in the American Corner on the 22nd of February. The term „Pronoun Wars” apply to debates and conflicts surrounding the use of gender pronouns, especially in the English-speaking world (he/she/they/etc.) Pronouns are one of the research fields of Dr. Péter Szűcs, member of the Department of English Linguistics at the University of Debrecen, who will give a fascinating overview of the topic and the audience will also be invited  to create an informed  opinion about it. “Eger’s Pink Floyd” Band’s Concert at Sikk Club

Back To Floyd, also known as "Eger's Pink Floyd", will perform at Sikk Club in Domb Street on Thursday evening, on the 22nd of February, with a programme of the world-famous British band's 70s works. Furmint Wine Exhibition in Lovarda

Farmers’ Market in Homokkert on the 24th of February

Open stables weekend at Hortobágy

The stables of the Mátai stud, the sheep folds in Szatmáritelek and the animal folds of the Pusztai Animal Park open their doors to visitors between 24-25 February.  Guests can get to know the youngest arrivals of the winter Hortobágy, this year's foals, racka (long-wooled sheep) lambs, Mangalica piglets, as well as day-old chicks, small ducks and geese, kid goats and donkey foals, led by shepherds and animal caretakers who take care of their animals. The central location of the event, the departure and arrival point of the tours, is the Hortobágyi Tavern (Csárda), which will then open its doors to its guests again in the year 2024, and gypsy music will be heard within its walls. "Open stable" locations and programs: Puszta Animal Park - Animal petting zoo In the petting zoo, visitors can meet bunnies, goats, and lambs up close, but  can also see Mangalica piglets, calves, and young goats up close. Gábor Kentelki’s exhibition ‘Flaming Colours’ opens at New Gallery

New Gallery (Új Galéria) 1 Széchenyi Street, Debrecen, Hungary

A new exhibition will open on the 24th of February at 5.00 p.m. at the New Gallery at 1 Széchenyi Street, entitled Flaming Colours. The works of a young artist from Târgu Mures will be on display for a month. Gábor Kentelki was born in 1998 in Târgu Mures, where he went to high school, and returned there after graduating from the University of Fine Arts in Bucharest in 2020. Painter Erzsébet Palotai, the  president of the Debrecen Artists' Guild, will give a toast at the exhibition, which will be opened by visual artist Bulcsú Éles. The event will be accompanied by the Cactus Country Club.
