The flower islands concept of the University of Debrecen reflects the university’s diversity, showcasing several plant communities. The three islands, connected by a path, show the flora of the desert, savannah and rainforest, with a wealth of with lots of flowering plants.
The islands’ flora is made up of plants from the Botanic Garden and potted flowers grown for the purpose. All three islands also serve as selfie points during the Debrecen Flower Festival. In addition to the islands, the fountain sculptures are also dressed in flowers.
