The University of Debrecen awaits its visitors with exciting scientific programmes, entertaining experiments, interesting discussions and concerts at the Campus Festival organised between the 24th and the 28th of July. Around thirty departments of the institution will be present at twelve stands on the University Square.

The festival venue of the University of Debrecen, as last year, will be located on the South-Eastern side of the Nagyerdei Stadium, opposite the Nagyerdei Culture Park. 

Visitors will be able to get acquainted with the activities of the faculties, various departments and clinics in the wooden huts set up on the University Square. They can carry out interesting experiments and take part in exciting scientific programmes every day from 3:00 p.m.

For example, they can try navigating an obstacle course with a spider robot controlled by a tablet/smartphone, do a reflex test with a microcontroller and LED tape, get into a flight simulator or see if they can change a wheel like a pro at the wheel-changing station. 

Festival-goers can take part in screening tests and a CPR demonstration on University Square, and can even mix customised moisturising hand cream, mosquito repellent liquid, and cooling gel for sunburn and insect bites. Children are also welcome at the Teddy Bear Hospital, where they can learn about the structure and functioning of the human body with the help of teddy bears.

This year, visitors will also be able to take a book selfie, but they can also find out how to extract DNA from fruit at home. Those with the necessary knowledge can enter a research laboratory escape room, where they can solve logic problems to get out in 30 minutes. 

In addition to the spectacular programmes, the University of Debrecen is also offering two stages this year. 

On the UniPass Stage, set up at the university festival site, in the afternoons, exciting discussions will be held with elite athlete students, including the DEAC basketball players Kornél Garamvölgyi and Bence Neuwirth, the ice hockey player Gergő Mihalik and the DVSC footballer Donát Bárány. 

University experts will also discuss chocolate research, celebrity phenomena in popular culture, criminal law aspects of harassment and domestic violence at a festival, the joint work of crime scene investigators and forensic experts, and what real estate tokenization is., 

This year, for the first time, the University of Debrecen will have its own music stage.

On the stage set up near Pallagi Road, the audience can listen to popular Hungarian artists and bands such as Brains, Margaret Island, Republic, R-Go, BSW, Nótár Mary, Manuel and T. Danny. 

In addition to the concerts, talks and entertaining academic programmes, the evening of Wednesday the 24th of July will be a special treat for higher education admission seekers as the national Pont Ott Party (“The Point is There”) will be held at the festival where this year’s university entry point thresholds will be published at eight o’clock in the evening, following a signal from the  Minister for Culture and Innovation, Balázs Hankó.
