Time travel will be the event’s main theme: families are welcome to the Debrecen amusement park with a colourful programme and renewed experience elements.
Carnival week is approaching, and the Galiba Children’s Festival will be held again. The programmes and the attractions of the 65-year-old amusement park were announced by Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Diána Széles.
“Our aim is to ensure that as many children as possible in Debrecen can experience the atmosphere of the Flower Carnival. At the Galiba Children’s Festival – which is being held for the 12th time this year – everything is about children. It is a large-scale event that shows the power of the community. Children can enter the amusement park free of charge during the festival,” she said, adding that Debrecen is also the perfect place for families to take a day trip.
She recalled that last year the children’s festival had 15,000 visitors, and this year, even more are expected. The deputy mayor said that, together with the playground Sziget-kék, the event would be an even bigger attraction for families visiting the city.
“The main theme of this year’s Galiba Children’s Festival will be time travel,” programme director of Főnix Rendezvényszervező Kft. Tibor Korponai said, adding that they will set up a real dinosaur park under the trees of the Great Forest.
There will also be an evening amusement park, with elements including an LED and robot show, evening stargazing and a disco.
István Király, the technical manager of the Nagyerdei Cultural Park, emphasised that the festival will also include a new attraction called the Baroque Carousel. Children can try it out free of charge, and more than twenty rides will entertain visitors. He added that they are trying to reinvent their existing rides and take them to the next level with new ideas.
Managing director of Marnevall Zrt. and the main sponsor of the event, Gergely Liszenkó, pointed out that as a father of three, he is looking forward to the event and likes to visit it with his family. The event closed with a performance by the Lesz Dance School.
More than 200 programme elements will be on offer at the Galiba Children’s Festival from the 17th of August; this is also available in English.
