This year, the career exhibition  “Hello Profession! – The Road to the Future” will be held again in Debrecen on the 7th and the 8th of October in Nagyerdei Stadium.

Primary school pupils and their parents, adults who would like to retrain or further their education, or those who would like to learn about job opportunities in Debrecen are welcome to the fair that will showcase eighty professions in twenty sectors from eleven institutions and more than ninety exhibitors taking part.

At the event’s announcement, the Director General of the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre, Sándor Szilágyi, said, “The city’s economy is developing dynamically, which requires the right professionals. This event will help young people choose the right one for them.”

He pointed out that the Debrecen Vocational Training Centre will draw its supply of suitable professionals from future primary school leavers, which is why we consider the career choice exhibition very important.

This is the fourth edition of the “Hello Profession!” career choice exhibition, which is a Debrecen initiative but has become so popular that other vocational training centres have adopted the method.

Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Ákos Balázs emphasised at the event announcer that they were working to provide young people in the city and the region with a vision and career opportunities. “A career starts on the school bench. Debrecen is an excellent school town, where almost everything from primary to university education is high quality. Cooperation between the institutions, the city and various stakeholders is also good. This is further strengthened by young people receiving up-to-date, competitive knowledge,” he said.

As before, the University of Debrecen will be represented at the exhibition. “Many who choose vocational education and training would like to cultivate what they have learned at a higher level. The university has such a close relationship with the Debrecen Vocational Centre that some of the students can take credits with them to higher education,” Chancellor Zoltán Bács said.

He stressed that the University of Debrecen also acts as a bridge to take the good experiences here to Szolnok County in Szolnok or Siófok in Somogy County. Thus, close links with vocational training centres are also beginning to develop there.

The county president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that the knowledge base was necessary to increase the competitiveness of national enterprises.
