According to the partnership agreement, the leading company of the Hungarian pharmaceutical industry plans to explore and exploit new ideas and insights in three research networks, clusters: neuroinflammation, neuropsychiatric translation and human reproduction.

On behalf of the University of Debrecen, the accession certificate was signed in advance by Rector Zoltán Szilvássy, and at the ceremony held at the headquarters of the pharmaceutical company, the institution was represented by Ildikó Bácskay, Director of the nstitute of Health Sciences of the University of Debrecen.

Ildikó Bácskay said that Richter invited domestic university research groups and researchers, including employees of the University of Debrecen, to participate in their innovation research.

“Anyone who does not participate in this large-scale innovation ecosystem will be left behind. Since not all Hungarian universities have joined, it is an extreme honour for the University of Debrecen that we were invited, allowing us to work closely with the pharmaceutical industry. This agreement is an important element of the competitiveness-enhancing turnaround in the health industry in Europe. The government also supports the initiative,“ the Director explained.

Ildikó Bácskay highlighted that UD researchers will be able to join both the neuroinflammation, neuropsychiatric translation and human reproduction networks.

She added that it was also decided that cluster meetings and professional workshops to elaborate the details would be held at the universities that had joined the partnership. In February, the University of Debrecen will also host such an event, during which the institution’s research infrastructure will also be presented to the participants.
