The Far East was brought closer to the people of Debrecen on Saturday, the 7th of October 2023.
A Korean Cultural Day was held at the Lovarda to celebrate the anniversary of the Korean alphabet, which was a great success: hundreds of people attended the exotic cultural event.
A gastronomic tasting of Korean cuisine from appetisers to desserts, a K-pop dance show with the latest Korean hits and a demonstration of the Korean martial art Taekwondo – these were the colourful programmes of the Debrecen Korean Cultural Association and the King Szechong Institute of Debrecen.
At the opening of the Korean Cultural Day, Deputy Mayor István Puskás said: in a changing world, Debrecen is also developing and changing dynamically. The city is getting more and more colourful, more and more international, and other nations’ cultures are getting closer to us, which is worth discovering even at such an event.
“The first steps, the doors, if you like, that Korean culture opens for us – be it music or film – are all good for arousing our interest, inviting us to enter and explore this exciting world,” István Puskás said.
