The movement activities of Move Debrecen! Movement have found a new venue at Kazinczy Ferenc Primary School and School of Elementary Arts in Debrecen. This was announced at a press conference on the 6th of March 2024 by Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Diána Széles, municipal representative Ibolya Aurélia Orosz and Attila Csaholczi, Director of the Debrecen Institute for Primary Care and Health Promotion (Daefi) Csaba Papp, and Head of Kazinczy Ferenc Primary School and Elementary Art School in Debrecen László Nádházi.
Diána Széles said that a few weeks before the Move, Debrecen! Movement had opened its centre in Vörösmarty School in Tócóskert, where it was already clear from the first sessions that the number of people interested would soon exceed the capacity of the gym. With the help of the Debrecen School District Centre and Kazinczy Ferenc Primary School and Elementary Art School, we have now managed to find a new location in Tócóskert. According to the Deputy Mayor, they could not create this opportunity in the Tócóskert because there is no municipally owned community space or community centre in this part of the city, and when the Move, Debrecen! Movement was organising its programmes, they concentrated on these indoor venues in the first round. However, with the help of the Debrecen School District Centre, schools are now increasingly hosting the Move Debrecen! programmes in addition to the school programme. The sessions at Kazinczy School will complement those already taking place at Vörösmarty School, so anyone who wants to can go to both. Diána Széles also emphasised that the programmes can be free of charge for the people of Debrecen if the costs incurred, such as the employment of qualified trainers, are financed by the city government. Move, Debrecen! offers a wide variety of movement forms, the latest additions to the programme in recent weeks and days include men’s yoga and parent-child yoga, as well as Nordic walking. In the spirit of the caring city, Move, Debrecen! Movement now welcomes everyone from Tócóskert and Tócóvölgy who wants to exercise, who wants to live a healthy life, especially those who haven’t exercised before or haven’t had the opportunity to do so.
Municipal representative Ibolya Aurélia Orosz mentioned that since the Move, Debrecen! Movement was established, many people from Tócóskert, Postakert and Széchenyikert had asked when they would have the opportunity to join the programmes in this residential area. So there was a demand for this service, and thanks go to all those who made it possible. She also highlighted the fact that men would also have the opportunity to take part in the programmes at Kazinczy School, where they would also have the opportunity to take part in strengthening workout sessions.
Municipal representative Attila Csaholczi pointed out that Kazinczy School is located in the middle of Tócóskert, so it is very easily accessible for the local residents, who are very happy about the activity types provided by the Move, Debrecen! Movement.
Director of the Debrecen Institute of Primary Care and Health Promotion (Daefi) Csaba Papp first mentioned that Kazinczy School is now the 11th indoor venue for the Movement, and then detailed the exact schedule here, which is effectively a double of the programmes at Vörösmarty School. The sessions will start on the 12th of March, and from then on there will be yoga classes in the gym on Tuesdays from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. At the same time, from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m there will also be a strengthening workout session for men in the gym. The two groups will not interfere with each other as the gym is divided into several sections. On Thursdays from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m., there will be a spinal gymnastics session. From the 5th of April, there will also be a programme on Fridays which is a body shaping aerobics session from 6.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. “An hour of walking a day saves our lives, an hour of walking or exercise a day ensures our survival,” Csaba Papp stressed. Even with just that, we can do a lot for our health!
László Nádházi, Head of Karácsony Sándor Primary School in Debrecen said that his institution had already joined the Move, Debrecen! school programme and was pleased to be able to offer programmes for adults. He is particularly pleased that the organisers have also thought of men, so he will also take advantage of this opportunity to get moving.
