Guitars, drums and keyboards will be waiting for students and families at the Kölcsey Centre. The “Musical Instruments into Hands!” programme visited Debrecen for the fourth time. This time the focus is on instruments for popular music.
Let music be for everyone! Following the guidance of Zoltán Kodály, the students of the Bárczi Gusztáv school were the first to take possession of the musical playground. As part of the “Musical Instruments into Hands!” programme, those interested could not only try everything, but also hear interesting music history lectures. The program visited Debrecen for the fourth time. This year, the focus is specifically on popular music. The genre has been part of the life of the city for more than six decades. Nowadays, the Municipality of Debrecen also helps young people try themselves in popular music genres.
“Our project called “Music Box” offers high school students a mini rehearsal space in a different school every year. We also have a support programme with which we try to help the journey of budding bands in Debrecen,” Deputy Mayor István Puskás said. The “Musical Instruments into Hands!” event, not only wants to attract all ages to music, but is also the opening event of the Kölcsey Centre in 2025.
“We set a goal to fill the Kölcsey Centre with life. This will start at the beginning of the year, as 1,600 children have registered for this programme,” Managing Director of Főnix Event Management Ltd. Zita Dobos emphasised. Those interested in pop music are awaited at the Kölcsey Centre until Thursday. School groups will be welcomed in the morning and early afternoon, and then families can also take over the interactive space.
The event is free for everyone. Further details can be found on the programme’s social media page.
