Xanga Ventures Private Equity Fund Management Zrt developed the S Box, which cost HUF 4 billion. The niche facility on Madár Street is home to large international retailers of chemicals, perfumes and clothing, among others.
A long-standing wish of the people of Hajdúsámson has been fulfilled with the construction of a new shopping centre. The settlement population is constantly growing, and the city’s leadership responded to these needs with this year’s most significant investment.
“It is very important that the residents find out about the basic services and shopping locally, for which they no longer have to go to neighbouring settlements. Our residents will not take their money and spend it in other settlements, which is very important, in addition to the fact that jobs have also been created,” Mayor of Hajdúsámson Szabolcs Antal said.
On the 2.6-hectare site, the investor, already well known for its industrial developments in Debrecen, has set up shops between 500 and 1800 square metres.
“On an area of 26 thousand square metres, 7 thousand square metres of shops have been built. This means 9-10 shops with parking and landscaping,” István Herdon explained. The CEO of Xanga Ventures Private Equity Fund Management Zrt. added that the stores would be opening continuously in the coming weeks.
Mayor of Debrecen László Papp spoke about how the direct effects of the economic power of the county seat are already becoming apparent in Hajdúsámson. “The dynamism and development of Debrecen has a clear impact on Hajdúsámson, and the regulations are already starting to develop in such a way that, economically speaking, if we look at the districts, the relationship between us will become closer in the future,” he emphasised.
László Tasó also highlighted the effects of the economic development processes in Debrecen in his speech. According to the MP, the entire region can benefit from their results.
“The two cities are slowly merging. It is not just the two cities that are coming together, but the entire agglomeration, because what happens in Debrecen affects everyone, and not just within a 30-kilometre radius, but perhaps within a 300-kilometre reach as well,” László Tasó said.
The large-scale investment will also create many new jobs, but exactly how many can only be said after the last store opens.
