The Presidency of the Hungarian National Gastronomic Association founded the award named after the iconic chef of Debrecen last year to recognise professionals under the age of 25.

The young chef received the award in the morning at the statue of László Boros. At the award ceremony, Deputy Mayor István Puskás said that gastronomy and hospitality are part of the city’s identity and praised the work of the eponymous László Boros.

Patrik Nyikos was a student at the DSZC Trade and Hospitality Technical College and Vocational School. He achieved outstanding results in several professional competitions. The young professional has also worked in Germany, and is currently employed in a Michelin-star restaurant in the capital.

“It was a very good feeling and I feel very honoured, because we had a good couple of years of shared history with uncle Laci, all in the way that we moved in the same kitchen and cooked together, and also because I was a competitor as a trainee chef and he judged me,” chef Patrik Nyikos said.
