Our municipality continues to upgrade the street lighting network. In Phase VII, controllable LED technology luminaires will be installed in the residential areas of Vénkert and Újkert.

The works started on Monday, the 10th of March 2025 on Borbíró Square, Cívis Street and Hortobágy Street.

Depending on the weather, the work will take about a month to complete and will involve replacing 549 luminaires on the street lighting poles.

During Phase VII of the street lighting modernisation, the installed power of the replaced street lighting luminaires will be reduced by about 32 kW, resulting in annual power savings of 128,000 kWh and a reduction of about 28 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

In the six phases completed so far, a total of 4,609 old, outdated street lighting luminaires have been replaced with modern, energy efficient luminaires at 70 locations along roads and public spaces, reducing the total power of the luminaries by nearly 384 kW compared to the total power of about 2,084 kW at the start of the upgrade, resulting in an annual reduction of 1.5 million kWh of consumption and 338 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.

This energy saving is equivalent to the annual consumption of more than 600 average family houses.
