Several hundred child actors and actresses arrived in Debrecen

Children’s theatre groups from all over the country visited Csokonai Forum on the occasion of the 33rd Sándor Weöres Sándor National Children’s Theatre Festival on the 7th of June 2024.

On Friday afternoon, among others, the fourth-grade students of the Sárvíz Elementary Art School from Aba performed a production of the fair comedy “King Kiss Miklós”.

On Friday and Saturday, the stage was taken turns by around 400 students from 24 groups, who come from all over the country and beyond. The aim of the event is to give our country’s children’s theatre groups a chance to meet and to give young people the experience of creating in a community.

Speaking at the event, István Puskás said that in the past two months the city had hosted four national theatre festivals, demonstrating Debrecen’s role as a regional cultural leader.

“These meetings, when the cultural milieu of the region or the country come together here, also build and strengthen Debrecen’s role as a knowledge-sharing, regional centre,” the Deputy Mayor  said.
