For the ninth time, the Hungarian Electrotechnical Association is organising a series of career choice festivals (Mi a pálya? roadshow).

The career choice festival series has so far helped more than 60,000 young people nationwide to choose a career. The roadshow was launched in Pécs on Wednesday and will visit Szeged, Győr, Miskolc, Debrecen, Székesfehérvár and Budapest by the end of November.

The event will bring together industry and educational institutions, using state-of-the-art equipment and interactive, experiential demonstrations to introduce visitors to the exciting world of engineering and IT professions.

Computer-based railway building games, welding simulators, desktop CNC and 3D model making and hands-on activities for young people are also part of the live show. The aim is to give young people facing a career choice a hands-on experience to help them decide which area of work interests them most.

This year, for the first time, special attention will be given to teachers and educators, who will be given the opportunity to consult the festival organisers on the possibilities of dual training, admission procedures and future job opportunities.

The goal of the Technical Careers Festival is not to recruit directly, but to prepare young generations for their future careers. The event and its accompanying events will focus on inspiring and developing the technical professionals of the future.

It is also important for cities to inform both students and teachers, to showcase opportunities, and to ensure that children stay in their cities, have a realistic vision of their future jobs, and use their knowledge and skills locally, the statement said.

The event will be held at the University of Debrecen’s Sports Science Education Centre on the 14th of  November.
