Mayor of Debrecen László Papp and Managing Director of Aquaticum Debrecen Kft. Lajos Fazekas held a press conference on the expansion of the benefits offered by the Debrecen City Card at the Aquaticum Thermal Bath on the 10th of May, 2023.

László Papp recalled that the Debrecen City Card, introduced in the spring of 2020, was the first smart ID-based city card in the country, and more than 20,000 Debrecen residents have joined the popular initiative so far. As he said, the number of acceptance points is more than fifty, and Aquaticum Debrecen Strand was the first to join the card programme.

He said that in addition to municipal companies, including Nagyerdei Kultúrpark (Debrecen Zoo & Amusement park) Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra, MODEM, the partners include a number of catering establishments, restaurants, pastry shops and cafés.

Aquaticum Thermal Bath will join the Debrecen City Card programme as a new entity from the 15th of May, providing a 15 per cent discount on the ticket price for cardholders. This discount applies to adult, student and pensioner tickets. Those who buy a season ticket can get a discount of up to 33 per cent, the mayor announced.

He added that the first city cards issued in 2020 will expire soon. However, at the May assembly, it will be discussed to extend their validity for ten years so that the cards would expire in 2030. He added that the city card was created to create an identity so that people in Debrecen could get discounted access to various services in Debrecen.

Lajos Fazekas stated that the city card discount would continue to be available at the Aquaticum Debrecen Strand. He said that 75 per cent of the guests of the thermal baths are from Debrecen, so this discounted access is available to a very wide range of people. Additional discounts are provided for the purchase of five or ten suitable passes. He noted that spas nationwide have opened for the season with a 40 per cent price increase, but in Debrecen, the figure is 15 per cent or less.

The Debrecen City Card can currently be purchased at two points in Debrecen: Tourinform office (Piac Street 20) and DV Parking Customer Service (Füredi Road 27, Malompark II, first floor).
