The Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen has been accepted as a member of the Global Alliance for the Development of Pharmaceutical Science, based on the recommendation of the China Pharmaceutical University. The experts will discuss joint research opportunities in an online workshop in the near future.
In 2023, China Pharmaceutical University took the lead in establishing the Global Alliance for the Development of Pharmaceutical Science, which currently includes 38 pharmaceutical universities worldwide. The organisation regularly organises international conferences where participants can not only learn about the latest research results of its members, but also develop scientific collaborations.
The Chinese State University of Pharmacy in Nanjing, a city of more than 9 million people, was an active player in this, with almost 20,000 students and 530 lecturers last year, and many of its projects have reached international level. They have academic links with research institutes and universities in more than 40 countries and regions.
China’s first national higher education institution of pharmacy established a relationship with the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Debrecen in April last year, when a UD delegation visited several universities in Shanghai and Nanjing. The Debrecen delegation led by Vice-Chancellor Károly Pető also included the university’s Director of Coordination and Strategy Okszana Kiszil, and the Dean of the facult Ildikó Bácskay.
In December, the University of Debrecen signed an agreement with China’s leading higher education institution, Tsinghua University. The partnership between the two institutions includes drug development, and the document was signed at the University of Debrecen.
According to plans, representatives of the university pharmacy training centers in Debrecen and Nanjing will hold an online workshop in the near future, in which they will primarily present research conducted at the institutions in which the parties could mutually engage.
