The investment will reduce the city’s energy use and carbon dioxide emissions.
So far, 830 luminaires have been replaced by energy-saving LEDs with adjustable brightness, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Ákos Balázs announced on his Facebook.
He wrote that the investment would reduce the city’s energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions. It is both an energy-saving and an environmental programme.
This year’s HUF 1.6 billion project will include the replacement of 6,000 luminaires.
The result will be a significant reduction in the city’s electricity consumption, estimated at around one-third. The development is in line with the city’s strategic and sustainability ambitions.
