The municipal representatives of the area Sándor Szűcs and Róbert Juráskó held a press conference about the details on the 18th of July 2024.
Sándor Szűcs said that the large-scale road reconstruction works will continue in 2024 within the framework of the Debrecen 2030 programme. The primary aim of the projects is to replace old and damaged asphalt pavements and, where necessary, to repair local road structures to improve traffic quality and safety.
He said that the large-scale half-lane road reconstruction of the section of Nagyerdei körút between numbers 68 and 76 began on the 15th of July 2024 with the milling of asphalt. This was followed by the levelling of the existing manhole covers and the laying of the new asphalt wearing course today. The works are being carried out entirely with municipal funds at a cost of HUF 13 million. He added that the contractor is expected to raise the level of the existing manhole covers between Nagyerdei körút No. 68 and Pálma restaurant on the 31st of July, after the Campus Festival. However, no new asphalt layer will be laid in this area.
Róbert Juráskó emphasized that road reconstruction works have been carried out in several places in the district in recent years, which has made traffic safer and more comfortable on these sections. Nagyerdei körút, for example, has already been paved in several stages. He also mentioned the large-scale asphalting of Móricz Zsigmond körtér, Ady Endre Street and Pallagi Road.
“The Municipality of Debrecen is committed to providing better and safer conditions for the people of Debrecen. Therefore, the transport improvement programme will continue in the future, hopefully including the asphalting of smaller streets in Nagyerdő,,” he said.
