The municipality of Debrecen has twelve member institutions providing nursery care with 1,164 places, which are constantly being used.
The Hungarian Baptist Aid is building a crèche in Debrecen. The 28-place day nursery, which will cover almost 300 square metres, will be built in the Huszti-kert residential area, where many families and young couples have recently moved. The construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
The facility has received HUF 330 million in EU funding and the additional HUF 415.5 million investment is expected to be financed by the state. The money will be used to buy equipment and furniture as well as to build the building.

Overall, they are able to meet demand, but there are no crèches in some parts of the city. For example in Józsa, an area with a population of 14,000, a crèche is already under construction. In addition, the construction of a crèche in Postakerti is also under way.
In addition to the municipality, several churches are also building crèches in Debrecen
The United Hungarian Israelite Community, the Reformed Missionary Congregation of Debrecen-Nagysándor-telep and the Metropolitan Church of Hajdúdorog are building crèches.
The crèche of the Reformed Church is already under construction on Nádsíp Street, it will have 56 places and four classrooms.
The Greek Catholics have won funding for the construction of a nursery with 96 places and are carrying out the preparatory works. The church plans to build the crèche in Tócóvölgy by the summer of 2024.
The 28-seat, two-classroom day nursery of the United Hungarian Israelite Community will be built in the immediate vicinity of the Jewish House at 5-7 Piac Street, which also houses the community centre and the Hamsa kosher restaurant. The construction is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2024.
