The 207-space underground car park being built on Sas Street will improve the parking situation in the city centre. The HUF 4.7 billion project should be completed by the end of the year.

The column system is already being installed in the underground car park on Sas Street. The deepest point of the four-storey facility is 11 metres, and construction is already underway upwards.

“The contractor has completed a difficult stage; in this case, the gap walling is the phase of the work when the water is displaced from the minus four levels, and then they can start building upwards. We now seem to be at the stage where the contractor is building upwards,” Deputy Mayor of Debrecen Lajos Barcsa said.

This is an important investment because parking is needed in Debrecen. People often do their business and shop in the city centre, so the 207-space underground car park is being built on Sas Street, he pointed out.

“In accordance with the requirements of the modern age, for example, we will also build electric charging stations here. In the first round, we will solve the wiring for constructing ten double charging stations, but eventually, there will be 21 double charging stations.” Lajos Barcsa added.

The project will cost HUF 4.7 billion and is scheduled for completion by the end of the year.
