The development was presented at a press conference on 7 November 2024 by Aurélia Ibolya Orosz, the municipality’s representative.
She said another long-awaited investment has been completed in Debrecen’s centre. Residents have been asking for the renovation of Barna Street for several years.
She added that the development was carried out within the framework of the Debrecen 2030 programme, with a total budget of HUF 63 million. The works started in September, during which a closed stormwater drainage system was set up. The local representative pointed out that the road section was renovated over a length of 120 metres and a width of 5.5 metres, and energy-saving LED bulbs were also replaced on the street lighting fixtures in the interests of energy efficiency.
Aurélia Ibolya Orosz also pointed out that the road works have changed the traffic regime, as one-way traffic has been introduced from Szív Street to Antall József Street. She asked motorists to drive on the road not out of habit but according to the new traffic regime.
The representative thanked the residents for their patience and stressed that the project would provide users with a safer and more comfortable road.
