The European Championship qualifying event kicks off the speedway racing season on 1st of May 2024.

Track maintenance is currently underway at the Perényi Pál Speedway Stadium. The preparation of the track is becoming increasingly urgent as the European Individual Championship qualifying race will be held here next Wednesday. Sixteen competitors from twelve nations will compete here, including Hungarian Norbert Magosi.

“It’s a qualifying event for the Latvian event and from there to the European Championship series. Therefore, there will be big names, competitors who can rightfully compete in the European Championship Series,” Norbert Baráth, CEO of Speedwolf Sportszervező Nonprofit Kft. said at the press conference ahead of the event on the 26th of April 2024.

Including May 1st, eight races will be held in Debrecen this year, including the European Championship Final on the 8th of June, the first time that a speedway event of this calibre has been held in the city.

“This is an honour and a good testament to the professional work Speedwolf has done in recent years. The municipality has therefore made the right decision in awarding Speedwolf the right to operate the stadium. We are supporting this work again this year with 10 million HUF”, Deputy Mayor Lajos Barcsa explained.

The race will start at 3pm on the 1st of May, but organisers say it’s worth arriving early as the motorbike show starts earlier.
