November is Japanese Culture Month, and the “Treasures of Japanese Culture” exhibition aims to bring Far Eastern culture closer to the local people.
To mark the occasion, Japanese hina dolls and sodo, or traditional brush writing, are displayed in an exhibition at the Árpád Vezér Primary School, which opened on Wednesday. The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Toyama Association of Debrecen.
“The relations of Debrecen and Hajdú-Bihar County with the Far East go back some 40 years. The exhibition is open to the public until next Wednesday. We aim to familiarize our students and visitors with this culture because we believe that knowledge of such a distant but very traditional culture is part of the universal culture of mankind,” Szabolcs Komolay, director of the institution, said.
