“We are also greening up the areas around industrial zones,” Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, Ákos Balázs, who is also responsible for environmental issues, shared on his Facebook page.
As he wrote, 1,577 trees will be planted around the BMW factory in the Józsa, Nagymacs and Kismacs areas.
The area will be planted with indigenous field maple, Tartar maple and flowering ash saplings.
The Deputy Mayor added that 788 trees had already been planted there the previous year.
“Step by step, we are implementing the measures of the Green Codex. Planted trees capture dust, bind carbon dioxide, and purify and humidify the air. As a next step, we will continue planting trees in urban areas this year! Trees are our best friends when it comes to the environment!” can be read in the post.
