The results of the Children’s Day drawing competition announced by DKV Zrt. in the spring were announced on May 30, 2025. The winners not only received a gift, but as a surprise, the children were able to see their creations on one of the renovated wagons of the Zsuzsi Forest Railway, thanks to the cooperation of the city government, DKV, and PPG Trilak Ltd.
The children were in for a huge surprise when they saw their creations on the now-renovated 64-year-old railway wagon. The competition, themed “Green Locomotive, Green Forest, Green City”, was announced in two age groups, and more than 70 creations were received.
“ We want to introduce children to nature at a young age. It is important that they feel the slowness of nature and meet living creatures and plants, because then they will feel the responsibility that we have to show towards our environment,” Deputy Mayor Diána Széles emphasised at the award ceremony.
The drawing competition and the associated wagon decoration were created in collaboration with the city, DKV and PPG Trilak Kft. The company provided the paint needed for the renovation.
“Everyone is working to continue the 143-year-old legacy of Zsuzsi, to make small-scale innovations in the depot, on the tracks, and in any appearance of the railway,” Fidesz-KDNP municipal representative Edina Szilágyi said.
After the award ceremony, the children visited the light railway history exhibition at the Ruyter Street terminus, where they learned interesting facts about the history of the Zsuzsi Forest Railway. Then they were able to board the renovated wagon, which they proudly set off for the city.
“A lot needs to be done to get this light railway running. According to the schedule, you can travel with it from May 1 until September 30, but we look forward to welcoming all interested parties for a special trip,” CEO of DKV Zrt. , Szabolcs Tóth added.
