The Debrecen Folk Ensemble, 75 years old this year, is preparing a special gala performance at the Csokonai Theatre. With the production “Tales of our Masters”, the founder of the ensemble, Andrés Béres, will be remembered. The event is part of the series of events to celebrate the Day of Hungarian Culture.
Before the performance, the audience can watch the award ceremony of the Debrecen 175 drama competition from 8:00 p.m., and from 8:15 p.m. the festive program of the Debrecen Folk Ensemble can be seen on stage.
“The Tales of Our Masters” was prepared for the 90th anniversary of the birth and 25th anniversary of the death of Dr. András Béres, the founder of the Debrecen Folk Ensemble. In the performance, the audience can experience the dances of the regions closely linked to the life of the ensemble’s role model (Hajdúság, Hortobágy, Szatmár, Bihar, Rétköz, Subcarpathia), the moods and stories aligned with these, combined with the dances that are most close to the teachers teaching in the ensemble.
András Béres, like the youngest of the three sons of the once-upon-a-time peasant of folk tales, set out to try his luck. Through his perseverance, willpower, and knowledge, he finally achieved the goal he had set for himself. In 1950, he founded the Debrecen Folk Ensemble, with which he achieved many successes.
The program features sand animations by Levente Sáli, accompanied by the Bürkös Orchestra.
The musical editors of the programme were Ildikó Bárdosi, Tamás Dezsőházi, László Palazsnik.
