CATL’s first European factory is operating at high capacity to meet customer demand, electrive.com reported, citing the DPA news agency.

The factory, built in Arnstadt, Germany, has been in production since 2023 and its main partners are car manufacturers in Germany and other European countries. The batteries produced there are fitted in cars such as the Porsche Macan and the Audi Q6 e-tron.

The company representative told DPA News Agency that the German plant already employs 1,700 people, but is currently recruiting for 106 positions and is also conducting internal training. The article also reveals that Chinese professionals are involved in the installation of the technology and the ramp-up of the plant, but they are gradually returning to their home country and CATL is relying mainly on the region’s workforce.

The article also talks about the plant under construction in Debrecen, where the workforce is steadily increasing. CATL recently told Dehir that recruitment is ongoing. They currently employ more than 500 people, and their goal is to increase the number of employees to 2,000 by the end of 2025.

“CATL’s priority is to recruit employees from Debrecen, the Debrecen region and Hungary.  Chinese professionals are constantly coming to Debrecen to transfer their specialised skills and technology to local workers. They will install the production lines and help train the local workforce with their experience in this innovative field. The number of our employees currently exceeds 500, the proportion of expats, our colleagues temporarily residing in Hungary, does not reach 30 percent,” they answered.
