Főnix Rendezvényszervező Kft. has signed a cooperation agreement with the Chinese city of Suzhou.
At last year’s flower carnival, almost two thousand dancers, musicians and performers accompanied the floats. After COVID-19, groups from abroad, including Spain, Colombia, Turkey and Italy, were again invited to perform in Debrecen
Now another foreign city can add to Debrecen’s cultural and tourist programme.
A delegation from the Chinese city of Suzhou, with a population of 12 million, came to Debrecen at the initiative of the Budapest Chinese Cultural Centre to sign a cooperation agreement with the Főnix Event Management Ltd.
István Puskás, Deputy Mayor of Debrecen, stressed that education, culture and tourism are great prospects in Debrecen.
Several negotiations are underway, and the current one will strengthen cultural relations between Debrecen and China.
“We talk a lot about it, and the people of Debrecen can see the signs of it every day, that Debrecen is changing its scale, becoming more culturally diverse and international. This is no longer just reflected in the flower carnival or any big festivals, but in everyday life,” he said.
The details are being worked out, but it is planned to add new programme items to the city’s major events. Cooperation could even include dance groups and exchange programmes.
Deputy Mayor István Puskás said at the event that further negotiations with international partners would be held.
