The second study tour of the Interreg Europe ACROSS project was organised by EDC Debrecen between 25-26 March.

On the first day of the event, the participants got to know the city of Debrecen and its initiatives in the field of corporate social responsibility (CSR). During the morning programme, Managing Director of EDC Debrecen, Zoltán Pécskay welcomed the participants, who could then hear an interesting presentation about the economic development of Debrecen. This was followed by the presentation of two local good practices: the public awareness campaign “Water is our common treasure” and the garbage collection campaign “You should pick it up”, which is implemented within the framework of the global movement called World Cleanup Day. The participants also got to know the local CSR activities of Emerson-National Instruments and the Dorcas Foundation.

During the afternoon programme, the participants took part in a tree planting event together, then visited the Debrecen site of P.M.R. Ltd., where they could see the process of recycling Nespresso aluminum capsules, and local good practices supporting the circular economy.

The second day focused on knowledge sharing and project management.

With the help of the thematic project leader (BURST Nonprofit Ltd.), partners participated in a policy development workshop. The afternoon programme included a project management meeting led by lead partners, the Municipality of Gyulafehérvár and EDC Debrecen.

The meeting in Debrecen contributed to the achievement of the ACROSS project objectives and provided an opportunity for the participants to exchange experiences and share knowledge.

The ACROSS project will be implemented under the Interreg Europe programme between April 2024 and June 2028. Over the course of 4 years, 9 partners from a total of 7 different countries (Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Belgium, Italy, Latvia and Moldova) will work together with the aim of improving regional policies in the field of corporate social responsibility, promoting sustainability and helping the European Union achieve climate neutrality by 2050.
