For the first time, the Chinese Autumn Festival and Panda Days at Zoo Debrecen, taking place on September 14th and 15th, aim to enhance visitors’ understanding of Asian culture and wildlife.
The event offers numerous exciting activities like a Panda Corner with arts-and-crafts workshops, an interactive painting session to collectively create an exhibit-worthy artwork, and a screening of nature documentaries at Panda Cinema to bring Asia’s mesmerizing wildlife even closer.
Zoo Debrecen boasts a 10-year success story of exhibiting and breeding red pandas under a European Ex Situ Program (EAZA EEP) and is now also home to the other panda species in a symbolic way, having recently welcomed a flower giant panda family donated by CATL Debrecen after a debut at Debrecen’s Flower Carnival.
This event not only celebrates the rich traditions of Asia but also underscores the zoo’s commitment to expanding its collection of Asian species.
he programmes at the Chinese Autumn Festival and Panda Days are open to the public with a zoo ticket.
During the festival, Chinese students from the University of Debrecen will give a series of authentic Chinese costumed music and dance performances on Saturday, the 14th of September, between 3.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m.
