Barabás Lőrinc Solo “22” Record Launch Concert

On the 5th of April, Lőrinc Barabás will present his new solo album “22” at the Kölcsey Center as part of the Debrecen Spring Festival.

Lőrinc Barabás has been one of the key actors and driving force of Hungarian improvisational music for nearly two decades. Its various formations and improvisational club nights take the audience to the frontiers of jazz, electronic and neoclassical music. He regularly tours throughout Europe and the United States. In recent years, he has performed together with internationally renowned artists such as Erik Truffaz, Nicola Conte, Niklas Paschburg and Valerie June.

He is an extremely active and prolific performer, and his recordings constantly highlight new and innovative directions. Since 2007, he has released twelve albums with various bands and solo. On his latest solo album “22”, released at the end of 2023, he shows a new face, compared to his previous solo material, the piano is even more prominent.

In his solo live act, he uses piano and synthesiser, loop station and sound modulators in addition to trumpet to play his contemporary, partly improvisational compositions. Sometimes he creates a meditative atmosphere, at other times he weaves a more rhythmic fabric and moves in the direction of electronics, but he does not turn his back on jazzy or more classical playing styles either. His multi-instrumental performance is worth not only listening to, but also watching, as it is a spectacular and unique performance.
