Day of Hungarian Culture

January 22nd is the official Day of Hungarian Culture, dedicated to celebrating the written literature and poetry of Hungary, as well as honoring its renowned writers and poets.

On this significant day in Hungarian literary history, the famous Hungarian poet Ferenc Kölcsey completed the manuscript of the Hungarian National Anthem in 1823. Since 1989, this date has been observed as a celebration of Hungarian culture, both within Hungary and abroad. The year 2023 marked a special anniversary as it commemorated exactly 200 years since the creation of the National Anthem.

Typically, various programs and thematic exhibitions take place at venues such as the Déri Museum, New Town Hall – Csokonai Fórum, Reformed Great Church, DEMKI, and others, allowing people to immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage of Hungary.
