Debrecen Advent Events 16-22 December

The following events and progammes await visitors between the within the framework of Debrecen Advent this week.

20 December

5:00 p.m. – 5:40 p.m.  Concert of  Vivien Csakmag at Kossuth Square

Young singer-songwriter  Vivien Csakmag Vivien has been actively singing in various productions for 12 years, but her love of music has been evident since she was a little girl. Besides performing, she is involved in talent education as a music teacher. The members of the orchestra are: Vivien Csakmag, Ádám Féss, Zalán Huff and Márk Szodin.

6:00 p.m. – 6:40 p.m. Music Performance of Kitti Péter and Marcell Horváth at Kossuth Square

A vocal piano duo formed in 2023. Their style is pop, jazz and its combination, reinterpretation for vocals and piano. New rhythms, exciting harmonies, the meeting of pop and jazz will create exciting moments.

21 December

3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Dósa nádor Square and at 4.15 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. at Kossuth Square
The five-piece brass band is a returning participant in the Debrecen Advent.Their wide repertoire includes classical music, film music and pop music.Their Advent program features well-known Christmas melodies from various nations. Their festive selection brings the audience closer to the intimate anticipation.

5.00 p.m. Christmas show of Sándor Nagy, Mari Jászai and Imre Soós award-winning actor, singer

After numerous theater, TV and film roles, one of the country’s most popular actors can be seen on the Advent stage, where he wants to give the audience a few pleasant moments with his Christmas show.

The King’s Men singer Gábor Lantos won a landslide victory at the twentieth European Elvis Festival in 2022. The Hungarian performer had never placed before in Bad Nauheim, Germany.

6:00 p.m. The King’s Men – Elvis’ Christmas songs at the Debrecen Advent at Kossuth Square

In 2024, Gábor was invited to the Elvis Tribute Artists (ETA) competition in Birmingham, where he was the only Hungarian to participate alongside thirty-seven international singers.

Thanks to the band members Gábor Lantos and pianist István Kovács, Elvis’ Christmas songs will also be performed at the Debrecen Advent Fair on the fourth weekend of Advent.

21-22 December

2.00 p.m. – 6.00 p.m. “Mr. Piano” Christmas Show of  János Vágó at the Advent Fair

János Vágó has been participating in domestic and foreign events with his self-made rolling piano since 2013. In the Advent fair, he takes part in joint productions with dancers and singers in a unique way

4.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Show of LESZ DANCE Dance and Sport Association at the Advent Fair

During the Advent weekends, the fair’s audience can meet the elves of LESZ DANCE Dance and Sports Association, Santa’s daughters and one of the children’s favorite fairy tale characters, Elsa.

22 December

3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Lighting the fourth Advent candle at the Advent Fair

5.15 p.m. – 5.45 p.m.  Joint Concert of  Klaudia Kuczmog, Norbert Antóni and Marcell Horváthat Kossuth Square

Opera singer Klaudia Kuczmog, opera singer Norbert Antóni and pianist Marcell Horváth will delight the audience of the Debrecen Advent with a joint production. The Debrecen-born soprano, Klaudia Kuczmog, sang at the Debrecen Advent several times last year accompanied by pianist Marcell Horváth. This year they are preparing an expanded repertoire; in addition to classical works, they want to bring the festive atmosphere to everyone with popular Christmas melodies. Their partner in this will be the opera singer Norbert Antóni, born in Transcarpathia. The young artists have given countless successful joint concerts across the country in recent years.

On the closing day of the Debrecen Advent, on 22nd of December , they are preparing to make the holiday more beautiful and intimate with their impressive program.

6:00 p.m. Advent Show of Kata Csondor closing the Debrecen Advent programmes series at Kossuth Square

Kata Csondor is a Fonogram Award-nominated, Jazzy Award-winning singer, actor and voice actress. Her name has been closely associated with Advent for years, which is why most people refer to her as the Queen of Christmas.

Kata Csondor takes to the stage every year with a unique Advent show. She has already given a Christmas symphonic concert with Béla Szakcsi Lakatos, and another Advent concert was recorded live by the M2 Akusztik program.

7:00 p.m. Christmas Lights – StEFREM Advent concert at Kölcsey Center

One of the best-known Hungarian acapella groups will be on stage this time with singer Sára Bolyki. Like the mens’ choir she is familiar with a wide range of styles. The ensemble’s Christmas Lights album, released last year, provides the basis for the programme, which includes Christmas and Advent songs from Hungary, Anglo-Saxon, Northern European and Carpathian Basin nations. Famous secular melodies will also be performed, including Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker, Vivaldi’s Four Seasons of Winter and Silent Night, all in their own arrangements. A special feature of the evening is that these songs have never been performed in this form before, with a female soloist.
