French-Hungarian Animation Film at Apollo Cinema

More than 40 years ago, the novel “The Orphan of the Planet Perdide” was re-imagined and brought to life on screen by René Laloux and Jean Giraud (Moebius) with the help of Pannónia Film Studio and Hungarofilm. The result has since become an absolute milestone in the history of Hungarian animation.

The protagonist of the film “Masters of Time” (French:Les maîtres du temps, Hungarian: Az idő urai)  is a young boy named Piel, who is left alone in a fatal accident on the mysterious and terrifying planet Perdide. What will happen to him? Can he be saved? Will he survive this dangerous adventure?

The film, a French-Hungarian co-production, premiered in 1982, will be screened at the Hungarian Film Harvest on Sunday, the 16th of  February at 7.15 p.m. at the Apollo Cinema. The film will be followed by a round-table discussion on the film’s significance, impact and art with the festival’s moderators Anna Kata Váró, Miklós Szénási, Zsolt Heller and Ferenc Váradi.
