Literary and Documentary Film Festival in Csokonai Forum

“Héthatár” (Seven borders)  Literary and Documentary Film Festival aims to connect the artists and works of the Carpathian Basin with the audience through the genres of literature, film and music. In 2024, the thematic festival, which was launched as part of the 3rd Debrecen Festival, will offer children’s music and literature programmes and documentary film screenings on various themes in various locations around the city.

Literary and music programmes:
The Festival’s music-literature programmes aim to engage the children’s audience while offering recreation for their parents. Folk music, world music, original compositions by Hungarian poets and writers, storytelling, games and fun for the summer holidays.

Szilvia Bognár and her orchestra: TITOKTOK (family and children’s concert)
Szilvia Bognár, a renowned Hungarian folk and world music singer, has formed her own groups since 2006, showcasing a diverse range of genres.

Jamese: Buzzing Holidays (family and children’s concert mainly for 3-10 year olds)
The JaMese orchestra revives the sung poem genre with a colourful holiday program featuring holiday activities. The program reinterprets sound imitation games, singing circle games, and melodies, inspiring children to create their own rhythm games.

Documentary film screenings:
The Hungarian documentary films screened at the festival, in line with the theme of the programme, will cover a wide range of genres from folk music to 20th century history. What they have in common is that they are about Hungarians. About common memory, cultural traditions and values, about society and people’s place in it. The screenings will be shown in cultural spaces and cafés all over the city on the 20th and the 21st of July.
