Little Railway Day and Earth Day with Zsuzsi Forest Railway

The Zsuzsi Forest Railway’s vintage diesel train will take visitors on a journey of discovery in Erdőspuszta where they will explore an exciting topic: the secrets of the ground of the forest and its most important animals.

But who are these “forest farmers”? The tiniest insects, aphids, or the well-known earthworm, and of course the spectacular wild boar, red fox, golden fox, voles, mice and of course the grasshopper which all contribute to the natural balance of the soil.

History of the small railway and introduction to the diesel train

Did you know that the Zsuzsi Forest Railway is Hungary’s oldest narrow-gauge railway? At the departure station, guests can learn about the past, present and future of the “Zsuzsi” by talking to the train driver and the staff, and see a mini exhibition to find out how it contributes to the promotion of nature walking and ecotourism.

Earth Day tree planting and seed candy making

Let’s do something for nature together! Take part in a tree planting and learn how to plant or make seed sweets that will help you contribute to the renewal of forests and fields

Bird show and conservation lecture

Meet birds of prey and learn about the principles of sustainable wildlife management! An expert will give an insight into the secrets of the forest ecosystem and how we can protect bird habitats. You can learn about the species of the year in your area and get up close to an early maple!

Forest treasure hunt – In search of the secrets of the soil

Discover the small wonders of the forest! On a playful treasure hunt walk, you’ll discover the hidden world of trees, plants and animals while solving exciting tasks.

Local flavours and artisanal delicacies

After a day of adventure, everybody will be sure to enjoy a tasty snack!Sample locally produced delicacies, artisan burgers and refreshing drinks!

• Please use the public bus service in the city of Debrecen.
