The Music Revolution That Failed

MCC Debrecen Educational Center is hosting a special event on May 7th, titled “The Music Revolution That Failed”.

Description:

The MCC’s next event is a groundbreaking combination of keynote speech and concert. Andrew Balio, principal trumpeter of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, who has performed as a soloist with the Israel Philharmonic and the Boston Philharmonic, will take the stage not only as a musician but also as a thought-provoking speaker.

What if classical music had gone in a different direction? Balio talks about this “what if” moment – and how it affects us today, musicians, listeners, institutions. Why is it worth revisiting Bach’s pieces with an instrumental pairing that rarely comes to the fore?

In the second half of the evening, Bach’s well-known and rarely heard works will be reinterpreted for trumpet and organ. The concert will include chorales and sonatas that are well suited to Balio’s clear, technically precise playing.

The programme is also professionally important, offering a rarely heard approach to the work of a well-known composer.

This is not an evening of nostalgia, but of questions. And possibly an answer.
