3rd Halloween Walk at Dog House Animal Shelter

Animal enthusiasts are welcome on the 20th of October for a day of activities at the shelter, with a dog walk, relaxing with cats and coffee. At the charity fair  there will be an opportunity to support the shelter’s rescues by purchasing various souvenirs. Programme: Dog walk from 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m. (ends an hour earlier than the program) Petting in the Cat House from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.  Charity Fair from 2.00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.  Pre-registration is required for the walk at link  https://forms.gle/j86tdC25m3xC2TuD9. 3rd Helloween Street Festival on Batthyány Street

Thanks to great success, this year there will be a Halloween Street festival again on Batthyány Street. On the 25th of October between 5.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. the team of Debrecen Creative Community is awaiting visitors to come and spend the evening together with their families and friends on Debrecen's first pedestrian street. Restaurants prepare a special thematic offer, shops dress up in a Halloween atmosphere, institutes welcome children and teenagers dressed in costumes with candy collection and games. Participants are welcome to dress up for the occasion, bring a lantern and let the mystic chocolate hunt begin. St. Dömötör’s Day Drive-in Festival, Craft Fair and Crane Festival

With the onset of the cold weather, as the days grow shorter and shorter, the shepherds and their livestock prepare for the winter in Hortobágy, following the old folk tradition of driving the animals from the pastures of the bush to their winter shelter. The celebration of the day of Dömötör, who was also the patron saint of shepherds, was always a big event among shepherds, for which they prepared well in advance, in the tavern or the so-called shepherd's house and even for several days they had fun, held a shepherd's ball. At the Drive-in Festival, shepherds parade with their animals, long-wooled sheep, grey cattle, Nonius horses, buffaloes, while visitors can listen to interesting information about the ethnographic background of the drive-in. After the spectacular procession,visitors can meet the shepherds and their livestock, and then enjoy a foal show. The crane migration is the most spectacular natural phenomenon of Hortobágy, a celebration of nature in autumn. The 15th University Art Exhibition Opens

Organised by the Friendship Group of Kossuth Lajos University (KLTE), the 15th University Art Exhibition will open on Saturday, the 26th of October at 3.00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Gallery. President of the Friends of KLTE István Gaál, will give a welcome speech in the auditorium of the Life Sciences Centre, and the exhibition will be opened by Csokonai Prize-winning painter János Komiszár. The Monteverdi Choir of the University of Debrecen will perform, conducted by Ildikó Takács and István Pazár. The works were judged by János Komiszár and Imre Rácz. The Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra Comes to Debrecen

The Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra will give a spectacular concert at the Kölcsey Centre in Debrecen on the 28th of  October at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year 2024, in honour of the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic. World-renowned pianist Gökhan Aybulus will be the soloist and the orchestra will be conducted by their permanent conductor Cemi'i Can Deliorman.  The Presidential Symphony Orchestra, one of the world's oldest artistic institutions, is one of the rare ensembles to have maintained uninterrupted artistic continuity over its nearly 200-year existence. The show, specially created for the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year, celebrates the shared spiritual and cultural values of the two nations, opening with Turkish and Hungarian hymns.  The rest of the programme will feature excerpts from Ferit Tüzün's ballet suite "Çayda Çıra", inspired by the folk dances of the Elazığ region. This will be followed by a performance of Ferenc Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat major. “Evoking the Past” Hologram Exhibition in Agora

The 125th anniversary of the birth of the inventor of holography, Nobel Prize-winning physicist-engineer Dénes Gábor, will be celebrated in 2025. To mark the occasion, the Novofer Foundation and the Agora Science Experience Centre have created a joint exhibition that takes us back in time, showcasing holograms that are 20-30 years old in terms of technology, but still timeless today.  Collected from around the world, the holographic works come from the estate of Dénes Gábor's former colleague, Professor Pál Greguss. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to get up close and personal with an important piece of Hungarian and universal technological history. The exhibition is a unique experience in the spirit of scientific education, as you can explore the holograms with a torch in your hand, illuminated from different angles and experimenting. The exhibition will be on display in the Agora's Interactive Space until the 15th of December 2024. Immerse Yourself in the World of Science at the Fórum Shopping Centre

For a whole week this autumn, the Agora Science Adventure Centre moved back to downtown Debrecen to prove to everyone that science is exciting, fascinating, and fun. How can our brains be fooled by simple mirrors? How can the art of drawing sand be put in a box? What sophisticated movements can robots make? How does a robot hand work? This year, the Agora Science Centre will move back to Debrecen for a whole week to prove to everyone that science is exciting, fascinating, fun and exciting. At the Fórum Shopping Centre, visitors will be able to get answers to questions; try out some special interactive games closely related to physical phenomena; and see the WATCH programme, a special programme for secondary school girls, which in recent years has produced a smart mirror, a LED cube, a reflex test, a programmable LED wall-light and a servo motor clock, among other things.
