The 15th University Art Exhibition Opens

Organised by the Friendship Group of Kossuth Lajos University (KLTE), the 15th University Art Exhibition will open on Saturday, the 26th of October at 3.00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Gallery. President of the Friends of KLTE István Gaál, will give a welcome speech in the auditorium of the Life Sciences Centre, and the exhibition will be opened by Csokonai Prize-winning painter János Komiszár. The Monteverdi Choir of the University of Debrecen will perform, conducted by Ildikó Takács and István Pazár. The works were judged by János Komiszár and Imre Rácz. The Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra Comes to Debrecen

The Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra will give a spectacular concert at the Kölcsey Centre in Debrecen on the 28th of  October at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year 2024, in honour of the 101st anniversary of the Turkish Republic. World-renowned pianist Gökhan Aybulus will be the soloist and the orchestra will be conducted by their permanent conductor Cemi'i Can Deliorman.  The Presidential Symphony Orchestra, one of the world's oldest artistic institutions, is one of the rare ensembles to have maintained uninterrupted artistic continuity over its nearly 200-year existence. The show, specially created for the Turkish-Hungarian Cultural Year, celebrates the shared spiritual and cultural values of the two nations, opening with Turkish and Hungarian hymns.  The rest of the programme will feature excerpts from Ferit Tüzün's ballet suite "Çayda Çıra", inspired by the folk dances of the Elazığ region. This will be followed by a performance of Ferenc Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 in E flat major. The famous Hungarian composer Zoltán Kodály's "Dances of Galánta" and Ulvi Cemal Erkin's "Köçekçe", inspired by the dance music of the Ottoman era, will be performed in symphonic orchestration. “Evoking the Past” Hologram Exhibition in Agora

The 125th anniversary of the birth of the inventor of holography, Nobel Prize-winning physicist-engineer Dénes Gábor, will be celebrated in 2025. To mark the occasion, the Novofer Foundation and the Agora Science Experience Centre have created a joint exhibition that takes us back in time, showcasing holograms that are 20-30 years old in terms of technology, but still timeless today.  Collected from around the world, the holographic works come from the estate of Dénes Gábor's former colleague, Professor Pál Greguss. Visitors to the exhibition will be able to get up close and personal with an important piece of Hungarian and universal technological history. The exhibition is a unique experience in the spirit of scientific education, as you can explore the holograms with a torch in your hand, illuminated from different angles and experimenting. The exhibition will be on display in the Agora's Interactive Space until the 15th of December 2024. Immerse Yourself in the World of Science at the Fórum Shopping Centre

For a whole week this autumn, the Agora Science Adventure Centre moved back to downtown Debrecen to prove to everyone that science is exciting, fascinating, and fun. How can our brains be fooled by simple mirrors? How can the art of drawing sand be put in a box? What sophisticated movements can robots make? How does a robot hand work? This year, the Agora Science Centre will move back to Debrecen for a whole week to prove to everyone that science is exciting, fascinating, fun and exciting. At the Fórum Shopping Centre, visitors will be able to get answers to questions; try out some special interactive games closely related to physical phenomena; and see the WATCH programme, a special programme for secondary school girls, which in recent years has produced a smart mirror, a LED cube, a reflex test, a programmable LED wall-light and a servo motor clock, among other things. Exhibition Titled “Colourful World” Opens in Villa Borsos

Ilona Pincse has travelled halfway around the world,  she has painter friends in Poland, Bulgaria and the US, but she also enjoys her time in the heart of the city. She is well known in the city, as she is often seen at local events and likes to post photos of them on her social networking site.  Soon she can be met in the company of her paintings, her exhibition will open on Wednesday the 6th of  November at 5.00 p.m.  at DEMKI Borsos Villa.  For her, nature, streams, hills and forests are very inspiring, just like the Great Forest  in Debrecen. The exhibition  “Colourful World” will be opened by institutional communicator (who is the daughter of the painter and likes to make ceramics), Olívia Szentirmay and a welcome speech will be given by graphic artist Sándor Gárdonyi. The Jewish Community of Debrecen closes the "Holocaust 80 - Debrecen" series of programmes with a selection of works by the teachers of the Kós Károly Art Secondary School, Technical School and College of Art at Pásti Street Synagogue. The exhibition titled “Identity Fragments” opens on Wednesday the 6th of  November at 4.30 p.m. with the welcome speech  by Deputy Mayor István Puskás, Tamás Horovitz, President of DZSH (Jewish Community of Debrecen) and Tünde Vargáné Szabadka, Director General of the Kós Károly School. 2nd Jewish Film Festival at Apollo Cinema

For the second time, the Apollo Film Theatre and the Jewish Community of Debrecen are organising the Jewish Film Festival between the 7th and the 10th of November. This year, the 2nd Jewish Film Festival will screen films on the Holocaust, the everyday life and traditions of Hungarian Jewry. The films presented during the three-day event will convey the values of the Jewish religion and Jewish culture in a value-creating way, and provide real knowledge about the events affecting Hungarian Jewry, related to the Holocaust and anti-Semitism in Hungary. Magical Autumn Journey with Zsuzsi Forest Railway
