Expanding on the success of last year's event, this year's FutureVision Expo and Job Fair (JövőKép Expo in Hungarian) will be complemented by a job fair for job seekers and those interested in career opportunities in the SME sector. Visitors are awaited if they want to explore the training and career opportunities in small and medium-sized enterprises in Debrecen and its region, meet the companies, build their professional contacts or inquire about open positions. Exhibitors are awaited if they would like to take advantage of the free stand and show their company at a job fair with thousands of visitors. Almost throughout the year, Debrecen hosts a variety of excellent events, all of which are worth attending. These are the festivals you should make sure to go to this year! Interested parties are welcome to a free astronomy programme on the 5th of April, where kids and adults can both discover the wonders of the night sky and take a look through telescopes and see for themselves: mountains of the crescent moon in the sweeping light, planet Mars, wandering in the open cluster of M44 in the constellation of Cancer, Jupiter's stunning disk and moons, and many distant deep-sky objects. Don't miss this extraordinary experience! Useful Information: This programme is only available on clear days, so keep an eye on the Facebook event's site or the latest information. The 100 Member Gypsy Orchestra is the largest and most famous gypsy orchestra in the world and will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025. In 2000 the band won the Hungarian Heritage Award and in the same year was entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. On the 5th of April 2025, on the stage of the Főnix Arena in Debrecen, they are waiting for everyone with a jubilee gala concert of 70 excellent musicians and a unique spectacle! The world famous Japanese drummers group Yamato will visit Hungary again after 2 years! Their new show 'Hito no Chikara - The Power of Human Strength' is an exciting, energetic interpretation of the centuries-old Taiko-drum tradition. The production features more than 40 drums, bronze cymbals, chants and bamboo flutes; anyone who has seen them will know the incomparable experience. The name Yamato stands for virtuosity, power and incredibly precise choreography. The company will return to Hungary in April to perform at the Erkel Theatre in Budapest, Debrecen and Pécs, to experience another miracle with their traditional Hungarian fan base. The Yamato - Drummers Of Japan production is one of the most important Japanese cultural exports of our time, alongside well-known culinary, literary and cinematic works. Within the commemorative year on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of József Borsos, the former chief architect of the “cívis” city, the Borsos József 150 exhibition will open on the 9th of April. The Borsos-villa Community House of the DEMKI also joined the series of events for the significant anniversary, as the villa he designed was also the home of József Borsos. He jokingly called the two-story building, which once stood out among the single-story houses on the suburban street, an “old-garden cottage”. The curator, director and opening person of the exhibition presenting Borsos' architectural legacy is architect Zoltán Rácz, the most knowledgeable expert on Borsos's oeuvre. Several buildings in Debrecen commemorate József Borsos, whose life's work the city pays tribute to with a series of programmes throughout the year. In the silence of Lent, the Kodály Choir Debrecen's concert entitled “Light and Shadow” offers masterpieces to be discovered, taking us to incredible depths and heights. Louis Vierne, who lived his life almost completely blind, promises a richness of colour in his celebratory Mass of late French Romanticism. Originally a work for two organs, Zsigmond Szathmáry has created a single-organ version of the work, presenting the performer with a serious challenge. The work by one of the world's most popular living composers, Estonian Arvo Pärt, is a poignant treatment of the lamentations of the penitent Adam, which speaks in the pure language of spiritual minimalism. The choir, led by Zoltán Kocsis-Holper, with organist Dániel Sárosi and members of the Kodály Philharmonic, evokes the depth of the Lenten sacrifice and the coming Easter light. The Chromosphere is a fascinating programme inspired by the travelling circuses of yesteryear, combining the magical world of Fulldome screenings with workshops, performances and experiences for adults and children alike. At the heart of the project is a lifetime Fulldome art experience, offering an unparalleled experience and awe for the public. Its mission is to explore the intersection of art, technology and sustainability. Through breathtaking dome projections and immersive experiences, they aim to raise awareness of environmental issues and promote sustainability practices across Europe. Chromosphere is a collaborative initiative involving six partners from Greece, Italy, Poland, France, Hungary and Romania, including five pioneering festivals of digital arts and culture in Athens, Rome, Krakow, Lyon and Debrecen. These festivals host events, creating vibrant hubs for artists to showcase their work and connect with diverse audiences across Europe. This is the case in Debrecen, where Baltazár Dezső Square will host screenings from 12 to 15 April. The programmes are in English and free of charge. Due to the great interest the 2nd Debrecen Fair Debreceni “Sokadalom”) will be held again on the 12th and the 13th of April. This event fuses the true traditional fair atmosphere with the modernity of today. The Debrecen Creative Community brings back the beloved street fair to Batthyány Street, where an International Rhyme Fest will be held at the same time, at the same location as well on the 12th of April between 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m. On this day, Debrecen's first pedestrian street will be bustling with the fair and the children's flea market. Useful information: In order to sell your goods, filling out the application form is mandatory. If your children would like to participate, registration should be submitted at the following link: https://forms.gle/iGQ7kYksx2hK1fcN9 Everyone as a customer is welcome, of course without registration. Photographs will be taken during the programme, to which all interested parties consent by participating in the programme. Organisers reserve the right to change the programme.
