The most awaited festival of the year, the Hortobágy Horse Equestrian will be held for the 56th time. From the 12th to the 14th of July, exciting equestrian and family events await everyone in the land of the herdsmen. The only classic amusement park in Hungary celebrates the Day of the Little Railway on the second Saturday of July, and this year, in keeping with and expanding this tradition, it will offer all-day unlimited experiences and thematic programmes with the participation of numerous contributors on the 13th and the 14th of July. At the event there will be a unique opportunity to learn about the rich past and present of the Little Railway, which has been in operation since its foundation and has now been fully restored, and to admire model trains, model railway models and railway relics, and even to take a train driver training course and become a train driver. With the summer holidays fast approaching, Debrecen Zoo is happy to announce their first ever Expat Zoo Camp in English  between the 15th and 19th of July, offering local expat children Debrecen’s richest and most unique day camp experiences and activities on the wild side Monday through Friday. With professional zoo educators as their guides, Zoo Campers will peek behind the scenes at the Park for their very own up-close encounters and lifelong memories with various exotic animals through experiential education activities.  In addition to a first-hand introduction to the behaviour and nutrition of wildlife from all around the globe, they will learn all about responsible pet ownership and what it means to take care of a rich zoological and botanical collection.  The five-day sessions also include three meals a day and a great diversity of team building and arts-and-crafts.  As a finale to the camp week, the Amusement Park's toy machines will provide children with activities of a lot of fun. The Sommerkino - Summer Film Screenings will be held on Wednesday evenings from the 17th of July for five weeks in the courtyard of German Cultural Forum at 24 Batthyány Street.  The programme is the latest in a series of #GermanPlusDebrecen cultural events and is an excellent opportunity for the people of Debrecen who love and learn German to speak in German with Germans, Austrians, and Swiss living or working in Debrecen. The Debrecen German Cultural Forum is traditionally showing five films this summer.  Films from German-speaking countries are shown in their original language, but with Hungarian subtitles. “Héthatár” (Seven borders)  Literary and Documentary Film Festival aims to connect the artists and works of the Carpathian Basin with the audience through the genres of literature, film and music. In 2024, the thematic festival, which was launched as part of the 3rd Debrecen Festival, will offer children's music and literature programmes and documentary film screenings on various themes in various locations around the city.
