Cultural Heritage Days

This year, the Cultural Heritage Days will take place on the weekend of 21-22 September, organised for the first time by the Ministry of Construction and Transport in cooperation with the ICOMOS Hungarian National Committee. In Debrecen, too, there will be programmes at several venues. There will be many places where monuments, historic buildings, ensembles, cemeteries, gardens can be visited free of charge and activities that are often not otherwise accessible can be tried. The event highlights the need to protect, respect and approach with expertise the irreplaceable built heritage and monuments that are part of national culture. Popular throughout Europe, the importance of the Heritage Days is growing every year, both in terms of the number of free sites and the number of visitors. Since its inception, Hungary has sought to raise awareness of its rich architectural heritage by highlighting different key themes. “Only” Design Fair (Csak Design Vásár)

After a short summer break, “Only” Design Fair (Csak Design Vásár) welcomes visitors  to the Central Library of the Méliusz Juhász Péter Library, both inside and outside, on the 21st of September from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with the great atmosphere and quality designer products. Csak Design Vásár is a fair for design lovers. Unique, modern products and quality products from designers can be purchased in one place, with Hungarian brands also being found at the fair. NEW DATE – 5th Batthyányi Fair and Children’s Flee Market

Batthyány Street Batthyány utcán, Debrecen, Hungary

The Debrecen Creative Community will once again bring a unique program to Batthyányi Street on the 21st of September between 9.00 a.m. and 12.00 p.m, with the V. Batthyány fair and children's flea market. This day, Debrecen's first pedestrian street will host the fair of the shops in the street, and a children's flea market. In order to sell goods at the flea market, filling out the application form is mandatory. Children can register/ can be registered at the following link: https://t.ly/IVkPb The event is free to attend. Photographs will be taken during the program, to which all interested parties consent by participating in the program. In case of rain, the event will be held on the 15th of September. Zsuzsi Forest Railway’s Car Free Day for a Green Debrecen

The European Mobility Week will take place across Europe from the 16th to the 22nd of September 2024, with Car Free Day as the closing event. On the 21st of September with the Zsuzsi Forest Railway visitors can take part in a special autumn tour where the forest's magical light show, fragrant plants and rich treasures will take the centre stage, and discover the hidden harvests of the autumn forest enjoying the refreshing atmosphere. Classical Music Concert at Pásti Synagogue

A classical concert titled "Musicians from the Old World” awaits the audience on the 24th of September at 7.00 p.m. with the following programme: Mozart: Serenade in D major (Postactaur), K.320 S. Bach: Piano Concerto in G minor, BWV 1058 Bartók: Divertimento Participants: Somogyi-Tóth Dániel - piano / Kodály Philharmonic Conductor: Tibor Bényi About the pieces played: Mozart's Serenade in D major, written in 1779, features a string quartet, flutes, piccolo, oboes, bassoon, horn, trumpet, post horn, and timpani. The Concertante and Rondeau movements contain soloistic passages for flutes, oboes, and bassoons.  Johann Sebastian Bach's keyboard concertos are presumably arrangements of earlier works for other instruments, with the Concerto in G minor being his first attempt to write a complete harpsichord concerto. Franz Schubert's Divertimento for string orchestra, commissioned by Swiss conductor Paul Sacher, is a neo-classical work based around modal tonalities and modernist tonality. The piece is characterized by sharp dynamic contrasts, imitation, and polyphonic construction. The final movement, Allegro assai, evokes dark visions of loneliness and combines tradition with Bartók's Eastern European roots. Ticket can be purchased via this link. Books Fair at Böszörményi Road Campus

After the June visit,  the Alexandra Publishing Group is arriving again with books with beauty defects and books on a discount price.  In the course of the publishing work, a lot of books pass through hands; some specimens inevitably suffer minor or major defects. However, the perfect exterior is not everything, the inner values are the most important, especially in the case of books. At the book fair, not only defective books but books in perfect shape can be bought at discount prices with more than 15000 different  books available from 100 HUF. The book fair is open from 10:00 a.m. until the stock lasts,  but the latest until  5:00 p.m. Paying by card on the spot is possible. Churchyard Markets in September

Churchyard Markets await visitors again in September, where  local farmers and artisans sell their products at reasonable prices offering smoked pork products, meats, cheeses, jams, vegetables, pickles, artisan gifts and much more. Kerekestelep Market  The farmers' market in the playground of the Reformed Parish of Debrecen-Kerekestelep opens on the fourth Saturday of every month at 8.00. Leány Street Market The farmers' market in Leány Street opens on the third Saturday of every month at 8.00. At the book exchange point, visitors can choose from hundreds of books,  any of the books can be exchanged for another book of their own or taken away for a symbolic donation. 1st Alumni Festival at the University of Debrecen

The University of Debrecen will organise the Alumni Festival 2024 for the first time on the 28th of  September. The event is open to former and current students and staff of the institution, as well as their relatives or friends. The event is free of charge, but registration is required. Registration Registration for the event can be submitted via website regisztracio.unideb.hu. When filling in the registration form, it is obligatory to enter the individual alumni identification number (e.g. ALUM012345), which is assigned to alumni members who are registered as members of the DE Alumni Community on alumni.unideb.hu.
