Churchyard Markets in September

Churchyard Markets await visitors again in September, where  local farmers and artisans sell their products at reasonable prices offering smoked pork products, meats, cheeses, jams, vegetables, pickles, artisan gifts and much more. Kerekestelep Market  The farmers' market in the playground of the Reformed Parish of Debrecen-Kerekestelep opens on the fourth Saturday of every month at 8.00. Leány Street Market The farmers' market in Leány Street opens on the third Saturday of every month at 8.00. At the book exchange point, visitors can choose from hundreds of books,  any of the books can be exchanged for another book of their own or taken away for a symbolic donation. 1st Alumni Festival at the University of Debrecen

University of Debrecen Egyetem tér 1., Debrecen, Hungary

The University of Debrecen will organise the Alumni Festival 2024 for the first time on the 28th of  September. The event is open to former and current students and staff of the institution, as well as their relatives or friends. The event is free of charge, but registration is required. Registration Registration for the event can be submitted via website regisztracio.unideb.hu. When filling in the registration form, it is obligatory to enter the individual alumni identification number (e.g. ALUM012345), which is assigned to alumni members who are registered as members of the DE Alumni Community on alumni.unideb.hu. The ID number can be viewed in the profile section after logging in to the website. “Thermal & Beer” at Aquaticum Debrecen SPA

The Thermal & Beer evening and night programmes, the first outdoor relaxation of autumn awaits visitors again on the 28 of September. Activities and programmes Sauna World  The Sauna World also has extended opening hours until 11.00 p.m. with special sauna sessions. Sauna masters are preparing for this special evening with fun-filled show infusions. Sauna programmes cost  900 HUF/person/programme. Local public Transport Company Birthday Celebartory Programmes

Historical Exhibition Opened in Méliusz Juhász Péter Library

Méliusz Library Bem tér 19/D, Debrecen, Hungary

Exhibition titled "Brave Hajdú People, Rise Up -  anno 1848/1949" was opened in the first floor cloisters of Méliusz Juhász Péter Library. The exhibition presents the political communication of the period with the help of archival documents and press products. Among others, Lajos Kossuth's former manifesto as governor, letters of military freedom, a constitution issued by Franz Joseph I and a partial list of names of those sentenced to death in the War of Independence are on display in the framework of the exhibition. Additionally, the legacy of Dr. Samu Kardos, a former lawyer from Debrecen, preserved in the archives, invites visitors to a special journey through time with the help of contemporary flyers and wall stickers. Opera-Operetta Evening at VII MagdaFest festival

In keeping with tradition, this year we will again organise the MagdaFest, named after Hungarian novelist, Magda Szabó, focusing on women artists and fates. The festival, created in honour of Magda Szabó, will be held for the seventh time in 2024. The event will focus on women's creativity, women's role in society, and women as artists. Within the festival programmes, the opera-operetta evening titled The Mysteries Of the Female Soul by Katalin Benedekffy is awaiting the audience on the 4th of october at 7.00 p.m. with guest performer Péter Balczó  and Szabolcs Sándor on piano. 7th Wizz Air Debrecen Airport Run

On the 5th of October the Wizz Air Debrecen Airport Run will be held for the seventh time in a special location, jointly organised by Debrecen International Airport Ltd. and Debrecen Sportcentrum. The aim of the race is to promote running and a healthy lifestyle among people who want to do sports, and to provide families with an opportunity to relax in an exclusive environment. Participants will be able to get an insight into life at Debrecen airport and run where the planes usually fly. Distances - 2,5 km individual - 2,5 km family - 5 km individual - 10 km individual - 4x2,5 km relay Organisers have launched an Equal Opportunities 1 km sympathy race to give people with disabilities the opportunity to participate. This year again, Schaeffler is the main name sponsor of the race, so the DVSC Schaeffler Handball team and members of the DVSC Handball Academy will be there helping and supporting the participants. 1st Debrecen Fair

The aim of the 1st Debrecen Fair (Hungarian: I. Debreceni Sokadalom) is to organise a fair that pays homage to Debrecen's market history and showcases the best of the city's fair culture, while representing a forward-looking direction, showing how past, present and future can be brought together in a single entity. The event fuses the true traditional fair atmosphere with the modernity of today. In the spirit of preserving tradition, treasures meeting the needs of today's age will be found as well as entertainment for young and old. Visitors are awaited with more than 70 local craftsmen and farmers with excellent handmade products, more than 10 caterers serving traditional Hungarian cuisine from Hungary and beyond the borders, exhibitors, folk games for children, music and inevitable fair atmosphere. Run, Jog, Walk for the Birds of the Great Forest

The Nature Conservation and Cultural Association for the Great Forest of Debrecen will host the XI "Run, jog, walk for the birds of the Great Forest" family sports day, drawing the attention of the people of Debrecen to the protection of the Great Forest's bird life.
