In keeping with tradition, this year we will again organise the MagdaFest, named after Hungarian novelist, Magda Szabó, focusing on women artists and fates. The festival, created in honour of Magda Szabó, will be held for the seventh time in 2024. The event will focus on women's creativity, women's role in society, and women as artists. Within the festival programmes, the opera-operetta evening titled The Mysteries Of the Female Soul by Katalin Benedekffy is awaiting the audience on the 4th of october at 7.00 p.m. with guest performer Péter Balczó  and Szabolcs Sándor on piano. Great Forest Week 2024

For the fifth time, a series of events celebrating Hungary's most beautiful forest, the Great Forest of Debrecen, will be held again between the 7th and the 13th of October under the title of Great Forest Week. This year's events include sports programmes, cycling demonstrations, a Green Cinema, guided nature tours, a family day, exhibitions and concerts with the involvement of numerous Debrecen institutions. 7th Wizz Air Debrecen Airport Run

On the 5th of October the Wizz Air Debrecen Airport Run will be held for the seventh time in a special location, jointly organised by Debrecen International Airport Ltd. and Debrecen Sportcentrum. The aim of the race is to promote running and a healthy lifestyle among people who want to do sports, and to provide families with an opportunity to relax in an exclusive environment. Participants will be able to get an insight into life at Debrecen airport and run where the planes usually fly. 7th Sauna Weekend

The Hungarian Bathing Association and its member organisations will organise their Sauna Weekend on the 5th and the 6th of October for the seventh time. Similar to previous successes, the spas participating in the event await their guests with a selection of colourful programs, more information on which can be found by clicking this link. Sauna lovers will be able to enjoy themselves this weekend in Hajdú-Bihar County as well. Although some of the outdoor pools are closed, the thermal pools are still open for relaxation. As autumn cools down, there is also an increase in the number of saunas, which are not only relaxing but also good for your health. Bird-Ringing Presentation by Future of Debrecen

European Bird Watching Days are held on the first weekend of October each year. On the occasion of this event, a joint bird-watching demonstration with the Hungarian Ornithological Society and the Debrecen Biodiversity Centre is organised during which visitors can get to know the birds of the Great Forest up close.  Participation: the event is free of charge for those arriving during the first half hour (until 9:00 a.m.), but the Botanical Garden ticket prices apply for those arriving afterwards. Nature conservation engineer, member of the Green Working Group, Máté Tóth will give the bird ringing demonstration. The programme will be cancelled in case of rain. “VÍZ” Therapy Festival – 2024

The Artistic Music Circle's “ Vizek-Ízek-Zenék” (Waters- Flavours - Music) Therapy Festival will be back again this year on the 10th of  October from 3:00 p.m. taking place in the main hall of the Borsos Villa to celebrate World Music Day. The founding organisers aim to raise awareness of the importance of environmental awareness and health promotion. At the event, which will be held at 1 Borsos József Square, renowned creative and performing arts teachers, talented trainee artists and students of the Alternative Possibilities Academy of Arts will perform both in orchestra and solo. In addition, the audience will be treated to interactive performances, experiential cooking, book and instrument presentations, a contemporary experience concert and the Jazz Five 5.0 Contemporary Project. Autumn Astronomy Demonstration in Debrecen

On Thursday, the 10th of  October, from 5:30 p.m., the Magnitude Astronomy Association will hold an astronomy programme with projections and a small planetarium demonstration at DEMKI Újkerti Community House (Debrecen, 17 Jerikó Street).  After the indoor show, if the sky is clear, after dark, the event will close with an outdoor telescope and laser show. The outdoor demonstration will take place on the top of the nearby Újkerti sledge hill, which is most easily accessible by tram No 2. The astronomy programme is free of charge. “As an interesting feature of the event, the recently appeared comet will be discussed at the event, in which part of the sky and at what time of day it will be possible to observe it in Hungary, hopefully it will be visible even to the naked eye, but of course it will look even more exciting with a smaller telescope," Astronomer and Publicist of the Magnitude Astronomy Association Endre Szoboszlai said in his briefing. 1st Debrecen Fair
