“Only” Design Fair on the 16th of November

In the run-up to Christmas, Csak Design Vásár (“Only” Design Fair)  awaits visitors again on  in Méliusz Library on the 16th of November, where they can choose from a selection of high quality, handmade and hand-crafted design products in a relaxed atmosphere, without the hustle and bustle. It's important to know that purchases will help local entrepreneurs and their future. Thank you for your continued support. House of Traditions Craft Activities in Déri Museum

Déri Museum Déri tér 1, Debrecen, Hungary

The craft workshops of the House of Traditions offer a variety of activities, where visitors can get to know the natural materials of the crafts, original and reimagined craft techniques. The themes of the activities are designed to give both adults and children the joy of creating. The handicraft workshops will be held on the 22nd of November 2024 on behalf of the House of Traditions by the Folk Art Association of Debrecen and Hajdú-Bihar County and the Folk Art Association of Bihar.  During the day, visitors will have the opportunity to try out six folk craft techniques closely related to Debrecen and the various ethnographic regions of the county. These include bead weaving, gingerbread making and decorating, candle making, straw weaving, filter embroidery and traditional clothes (made of sheep wool) decoration making. Railway Model Exhibition

Fans of the train models are invited to the Railway Model Exhibition on the 23rd and the 24th of November in the VOKE Cultural Centre where H0 locomotives, trains and train sets will be on display in the main hall of the Cultural Centre.  There will also be curiosities never seen before exhibited in the miniature world. Locomotive “petting zoo” on both days are from 10.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. Entrance fee: HUF 1.500/person (free for children under 3 years) Tickets can only be purchased with cash. 8th Debrecen Comics Fair

Comics lovers are welcome on the 23rd of  November at the Csokonai Grammar School at 12  Békessy Béla Street. Thousands of comics, figures, manga or fantasy books are looking for their new owners. The organisers would like to draw your attention to the fact that you can be part of the event even if you just want to browse, look around or buy. There will also be a raffle draw, where you can win better and better items. The entrance is free. Interesting facts about comics that not everyone may have known: Stan Lee created a hero that the public would hate, but eventually fall in love with. That hero is Tony Stark. Hulk was originally grey, but due to a printer malfunction, he was given a green colour. Journalist (Clark) Kent does not exist in DC comics. But while he's the real Superman in DC, he's an ordinary journalist in Marvel. Venom was originally a pregnant woman who joined an alien symbiote just before giving birth. Two Exhibitions Open for Culture Lovers in Debrecen in the Coming Days

The Public Culture Secretariat, Cultural and Organisational Office of the University of Debrecen offers the final exhibitions of the autumn semester. In the Life Sciences Gallery (1 Egyetem Square, Life Sciences Centre) visitors can see the works of Lajos Ritók, a visual artist from Debrecen. The opening will take place on Saturday the 23rd of November at 3:00 p.m. in the Life Sciences Gallery. The exhibition will be opened by Sándor Pikó, painter. The contributing music performance is given by band, Trio Harmony. The exhibition is open until the 31st of  January 2025. In the Theoretical Gallery (98 Nagyerdei Blvd., Theoretical Block Hall) the exhibition of János Maksai, painter from Debrecen, entitled “70th - Selection from the studio” will be opened on Sunday, the 24th of  November, from 11.00 a.m. The opening speech will be given by Ferenc Vitéz, literary historian and poet with the participation of Arco Nobile String Quartet. CANCELLED -World Famous Organist’s Concert in Debrecen

2024 is Holocaust Memorial Year in Hungary. During the year, the Jewish Community of Debrecen organised several commemorations and events in this spirit. The highlight of the series of events will be a concert by world famous organist Xavér Varnus, and the Kodály Philharmonic Orchestra entitled "We remember and Remind" on the 25th of  November at 6.00 p.m. at the Csokonai National Theatre.  The event will feature violinist Gáspár Kelemen and conductor Dániel Somogyi-Tóth. The joy of Christmas pervades the city's pulsating heart. Debrecen Advent provides a festive feeling to the city, with the main square turned into a stunning winter paradise of Christmas lights! Please find below the events and various programmes Debrecen Advent will be hosting  this week. 5 December 5.00 p.m. “Eszter-Lánc” Fairy Tale Band at Kossuth Square “Eszter-Lánc” Fairy Tale Band  invites all children and child-loving adults to a winter concert in a fairytale world, where they will search for Santa Claus through music. The songs, sounds and instruments all become characters in a fairy tale, whose adventures children can shape with their ideas. Visual and Animation Artist, Milorad Krstić’s Captivating Works Come to Debrecen

The exhibition titled “Signs Along the Way” of contemporary visual and animation artist, Milorad Krstić (n award-winning artist based in Hungary) will be opened on Thursday, the 28th of November at 6:00 p.m. by Zoltán Somhegyi, associate professor, art historian, with the acoustic duo Kitti&Marci. Milorad Krstić's works are captivating from the first sight. In his works, there is at work our eternal quest to continue to the end the personal deciphering of the world, the process of making sense of it. Through his exploratory and experimental creativity, Krstić also installs a strong added value in his works. He affirms the ideal of lifelong human development and learning. In art, as in philosophy and science, there is a desire to know, and a respect for human knowledge that frames our personal adventure of exploring the world.
