England, the United States, Germany, Austria, South Korea, Australia: the most talented Hungarian students can go to many countries around the world and learn from top foreign professionals free of charge. Among other things, this is what the Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC) University Programme offers. Applications for the complex course are open to full-time first-year university students until 16 March.

“At the end of 2020, we started the work to establish a well-functioning, stable MCC centre with regional objectives in Debrecen. The training programmes started in the fall of 2021, and are currently available. We also offer programmes for talented elementary, high school and university students,” István Ádám Bognár said.

The Head of the Mathias Corvinus Collegium Debrecen Training Center highlighted in the Debrecen Television programme “Evening Close-up” that one of the most prominent points among their educational principles is the linear educational structure.

Our main goal is to find the most talented young people in the region, whom we encourage to maximize their inherent talent,” he emphasised,  adding that the young talent programme and the high school programme are operating at full capacity, last fall the former was oversubscribed ninefold.

Both young people and parents have found their place in this training programme. One of our mottos is “enter as good, and leave us as even better!”.

It was also mentioned that the knowledge gained at MCC helps young people who graduate from the training to become excellent professionals who have a critical view of the world and who are familiar with the culture and geopolitical situation of the Hungarian people.

“We strive to have the closest possible cooperation with educational actors, maintainers, churches and the University of Debrecen, so that we can help each other. Our other great allies are parents,” the Center Manager explained.

He also mentioned that an important aspect of the MCC community is that the actors mentor each other and prepare those who come here for life.

The renovation of the Aranybika Hotel was also a topic in the programme. As mentioned, the new wing to be demolished and rebuilt will house MCC training.

“We are currently preparing the plan with the design team, which we hope to present to the public as soon as possible. We are in the concept design phase. Our goal is to create value, so that Hotel Aranybika regains its former glory and they can use the former, reputable wing as a hotel. In place of the wing built in the seventies, we will build the MCC Debrecen center, which will provide a home for talent development, just like it currently does, only in a renewed environment. We are trying to find the best combination of functions, how we will be able to operate there, how we will provide College services” István Ádám Bognár added, who believes that this will be one of the most beautiful hotels and most excellent institutions in Debrecen in the future.
